Stood on the Wakeman terrace today, and during the second half, I kid you not, A KNIFE was thrown over the wall at the back of the stand, missing the lad next to me by about 2 inches! To be fair the stewards were very efficient in trying to rectify the problem, dunno how it all ended up tho!
The young lad in question didn't have the best of times all round really, a ball to the chops from Jody at h/t as well! Though I think Joe Hart arranged for him to keep the ball and get it signed at the end tho, top man!

Does the club employ stewards to keep an eye on things in the Abbey Gardens? Something's got to be done before some idiot throws a firework over or something like that, it will happen one of these days, no doubt about it.

It already happened. Sure fireworks have landed in the Wakeman penalty area last season - Chelsea game maybe?

I'd imagine that policing outside of the ground is the jusidiction of the Police?

Stewards have no juristiction off club grounds, this is a police issue, however CCTV is the option the club have.

At Rowley Park stewards will have to keep an eye on things on the underpass that connects the NM to the retail park, so I dont see why one or two cant keep an eye on things in the Abbey Gardens to make sure any kids or deranged adults dont get up to any mischief, this is a serious issue and something needs to be done before someone gets seriously hurt, would CCTV be any good?
At Torquay once some idiot behind the away end decided to throw a firework over the roof of our terrace, if that terrace was uncovered like it was a year before, someone could have had an eye out.

Hartlepool 2 seasons ago i think it was when fireworks were thrown over the away end terrace, and loadfs of town fans were getting stick from stewards. but schizo, this lark about stewards in abby gardens is a non starter in my opinion as leagally it is not the grounds of STFC, any steward would need to be backed up with police pressence, therefore a waste of manpower hence a police problem, errected netting along with cctv, would be a deterrant, and could lead to a conviction
