During the game yesterday me and JP were both saying how many free-kicks/corners etc.. fail to beat the first man.
In the Arse v Chelsea game Mutu has already failed to beat the first man on three occasions.
For the town, I'd liek to see Luke have more opportunities from free-kicks.

Can anyone remember the free kick routine where Sammy Irvine would flick the ball about foot in the air and Paul Maguire would give it a heafty hoof goal bound followed by frenzied goal celabrations, simple but effective.

Kelly is the best dead ball kicker I can remember playing for the Town and probably the best passer too
As someone famously once said, he could drop the ball in a dustbin from 50 yards
Regarding the 'Shrewsbury corner' that has died a bit of a death these days since opposition teams started putting a man directly in front of and behind the near post flick on man
I can remember Brian Hornsby being involved in a free kick routine where the ball was flicked up before he vollied over the wall, I think it came off once very early on in a season and he then spent the rest of the season sticking them in the Wakeman gardens or the Station End car park ;D

who was it that used to give a quick pull down on the defenders shorts from corners, free kicks etc.
I've always thought that footballers should prepare for set pieces the way rugby teams do. Every player hears the call and knows exactly where he should be and what his role will be.
Also like to see Luke take free kicks more, especially after his one for Engaldn the other day.

...he did yesterday ;D
For all his faults we were spoilt with Ian Woan the last couple of seasons.
After David Tong one of the best dead ball kickers I have seen at the Meadow.

Ian Woan, Nigel Jemson...we are only just realising what we are missing Jamie Tolley has a pretty mean shot on him, maybe him and Lukey could share free kick duties?

Seem to remember him coming very close against Chelsea as well, Cudicini made an amazing save. Sure he scored a few other crackers as well, Bury away maybe

Woan, Tong, Jemson
None of 'em in Tony Kelly's league when it came to dead ball situations

Yes but Tony Kelly no longer plays football does he Prof ;D we could still have Woan and Jemmo I imagine, and in my opinion certainly we would be better off with them than Darby, O'Connor or Street!
And bring back Spiderman while we're at it, MAAS MAAS MAAS ;D
