We didn't play very well today. It was ok first half but god bless Scott Howie for an incredible save and some great punching of crosses (the guy was a brilliant signing) and Tinno put in as good a game as we've seen.
But then football does that beautiful thing of giving you a goal (a very good goal) out of nothing and we all celebrate and can enjoy a victory.
And yet several individuals have faces like stone at the final whistle and continue to moan!
Why? Yes, we're all aware that today actually showed why we won't win the league (inability to put in quality performances away from home).
But how can't you enjoy a win?
With all the crap we have to watch and suffer, surely a 1-0 win away (probably not deserved) is cause to clap your players, and enjoy the moment.
I'm in a great mood. a good day out, and a victory.
Yes, we were poor. But I couldn't give a toss.
SALOP!!!!!!

Here here.
But look out for the doom and gloom merchants who want us to play like Real Madrid every game.

Sod 'em.
I'll moan all week on here about Darby's jekyll and hyde performance, our inability to use rodgers as an asset, and the need for us to develop a gameplan.
But for tonight, I'm gonna celebrate a cracking day out......

I agree Garath - I was really happy with the result if not the perfomance and the day was made by the players reaction at the end claps all round - i stayed and claped them all.

Tinson probably won the player of the season award today.

Hear hear, I work hard all week with only the football to look forward to at the weekend and all I want to see us do is win, for crying out loud, when you pay just £7 to watch a cup tie at a lower division club what else do you want?
We were never going to win four or five nil and Alty were always going to give us a tough game, in fact I think they would have gave Chester a run for their money as well.

I went to the toilet at half time and this owd lad standing next to me was moaning that in 55 years of watching the town this was the worst season he's ever seen them play I nearly said " what a load of bollock$ owd lad" to him but i thought people might have got the wrong end of the stick ;D

A win is a win, we are through to the next round of the cup and we can't ask for more than that! I for one was very happy with victory yesterday, especially as Alty are a team very much in form at the moment.

Im very much in the minority here but... I have seen perhaps half a dozen pieces of quality football down GM this season. I dont support anyone else and I dont watch footy on telly, so my idea of quality is derived from what ive seen at GM over the years. We do not play well. I love STFC and it chokes me to see the way we play against the teams we play against. Yes a wins a win, but if you were in a resteraunt and there was a fly in your soup, it wouldnt make it any more appetising if the waiter pointed out it was fresh. Yes I clap and cheer when we score and win, but I cant imagine that im the only one who on the way home thinks."well we played crap today" We have a number of quality players in our team, with proven track records and I cant help thinking that we should be burying teams like Alty and Accrington. Why is it that these quality players seem to loose all ability when they pull on an STFC shirt. The odd flash here and there is not enough. There is no such thing as luck, if you hit the cross bar, then its not unlucky, you just hit it too high. These are professionals, for the division, relatively well paid I imagine too. How many passes go astray when they are passing to someone 20 feet away. I dont moan or Boo at the GM, I dont moan a lot on here ( except about the Tories ), but like a lot of people I remember the old second division days when we held our heads high against major teams, and this just sticks in my throat a little. So the answer to the original question is I bother going to football cos I love STFC.

I think our recent plight is a little more harder to bear for those who saw Town week in week out in the old second division.....or am I wrong here? You can tell these people out as they're the ones who normally boo when some team like Alty or Accrington have the cheek to hold us to a draw at half time I never boo if we dont lose, or not losing at half time, and I never heard any booing from where I was standing yesterday (on the side terrace near the temporary segregation fences)
