I've heard the above argument many times this season, I've even used it myself and everyone ends it with "we're 6th and we're playing poorly, once we hit form we'll be ok". I think someone else has mentioned it but now we are approaching mid-season perhaps its time to realise that this is our gear, an average side who can sometimes raise their game and play brilliant like against Hereford or not turn up and play awful like against Stevenage.
Now Im not trying to pessemistic and slagging everyone off after one perceived bad result, just trying to be realistic. We obviously aren't the great side we like to think we are as we are in a poor league although we aren't a million miles away from the top however it is so frustrating as every time we appear to be turning the corner we have results/performances like at Stevenage, Leigh, yesterday. Wasn't their yesterday so not goign to comment too much but I know some people say "we played over an hour with 10 men so a draw is a good result" while others say "we should be beating Tamworth with 10 men". No disrespect to Tamworth but they have lost 5 in a row, have a poor home record and their fans want their own manager out so surely they are their for the taking. Yes we played 60 minutes with 10 men but if we want to get out this league then we need to roll our sleeves up and battle for the 3 points, the ref sounded awful but what is it they say about making your own luck? We can't keep blaming refs for our shortcomings.
Also heard the people say "when you look at some of the players on paper we have got you would have thought we should be able to walk this league (Rodgers, Darby, Cramb, Aiston, O'Conner, Tolley, Moss etc)" however the old phrase "football isn't played on paper" seems very apt as being a big name player doesn't matter if you aren't working hard and aren't playing consistently well.
So what is peoples opinions:
A good team who hasn't reached top form
OR
An average team who are proving this by their inconsistency
