The first thing i noticed was how quiet we were (i had to cos i was in the home end), remember Rushton away, we didn't stop singing.
The Ref - I think they think that we came today to watch them, every decision took 2 or 3 minutes of THEM talking to the players - very fustrating, the best refs just make a decision and get on with the game.
I was delighted to get O'Connor and Darby to town, but thier attitudes were all wrong, O'Conner dived in, Darby won maybe one header in 10 - but when we played Hereford in front of 6500 supporters he tried his hardest and deservered his goal, but it was like he didn't like it in the Tamworth / Leigh ''sheds'
I thought having higher division players was the answer, but teams like Tamworth and Leigh show you that the answer must be in bringing players up from the Unibond and 'whatever' and keeping the momentum - look at Ryan Lowe from Burscough - he knows what it's all about

Darby ran his bollox off yesterday - he was left as the one man up front in a 10 man team and could only run around for 90 mins.
A really thankless task.

Only 2 people to blame:
1. The ref. Never had control of the game from the off and consequently gave the most abject performance I think I have ever seen.
2. Aptly named Jason Blunt (Tamworth no.27). Got O'connor booked for 1st 'challenge' when he never touched him and then after the second incident which again I dont think O'connor touched him ran 30 yds to get involved. Dived at every opportunity and was a disgrace.
Needed some pace upfront, esp the way we were playing.
Crowd was ok but problem with only season ticket holders getting tickets is that the majority arent the people who sing at matches anyway so never going to sound great.
All in all was a crap day, hopefully they will go down so we dont have to go to that sh*thole again.
We got the bus back from Brum diract to shrews and it only took an hour and was back home by 8.15 so not the shambles I was expecting.

A lot of the 880 tickets were sold to a)travel club members/ users (150 or so) b) on general sale (not sure of the actual numbers) Town fans tried to keep singing all the way through but the away end was very poor and made it hard to keep an atmosphere going.

Excuse me, I'm a season ticket holder an sing at every game. Infact all the people that stand with me at home games and away games are majoritly season ticket holders and sing. Remember that it was season ticket holders AND priority card holders that had first choice on tickets - shall I accuse priority card holders of not making any noice? The ground was poor and although the town fans tried to make noise they really couldn't due to the poor accustics

OK granted there are season ticket holders who sing and I class myself as one, I only mentioned that the majority arent likely to sing, not everyone, and the acoustics were crap.
Lets hope they go down so we never have to grace them with our presence again, esp the nice 50 yr old, grey haired bloke who was shouting abuse at us and giving us w@nker gestures all game.

Is this a Shrewsbury fans finally admitting that they won't be getting promoted this season??

Us!!! We're far too good to them! They're mega-complacent. They've got the best supporters any team could wish for and they think all they've got to do is turn up to be showered with affection. They've got a real attitude problem when they play so-called "inferior" teams. Time to tell 'em. Either they shape up -or else!! (I haven't thought of a suitable "or else" yet. Any suggestions?)

The place was a s**t hole. Could not go into the social club at the ground. Could not go into Weatherspoons because we were football fans(2 shandy drinking middleaged blokes with a 13 year old daughter and 16 year old son in tow) Found a pub, the Market Vaults? Dont serve kids in here. What a miserable bunch of toss-pots. How many of our fans were arrested yesterday? After Accrington and Leigh where we were made more than welcome, Tamworth stunk. Will not go there again full stop. Apart from a guy who had a brother in Shrewsbury and was a home and away Tamworth fan who we walked with up to the ground from the town centre with. And the car load of Tamworth fans we spoke to as we left the car park the rest were the biggest bunch of unfriendly people I have ever come across, except Carliar.

Hammer, I know it's no excuse our kid but I think Tamworth had a very bad experience when Hereford United travelled there earlier in the season...I would imagine they are a little more weary towards away supporters after that...I believe thats why we were given fewer tickets and why your own experience of Tamworth wasn't the best...

Fair comment Stutt, but as I said when two middle aged men with there kids get treated like third class citizens it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
Perhaps if none of us had worn a football shirt we may had got on better, but if I had not worn my shirt at Accrington the nice man who own the club we were walking past would not had invited us in for a drink and a chat. And why should we be compared to Hereford.

we can't blame quinn for sarurday had darby scored instead of hitting the post we would all have said great win with 10 men and good use of the subs by quinn
i moan at tolley for backing out of challenges after he gets booked so its hardly fair to moan at oconnor for being 100% committed even when on a yellow
the only trouble with town is that we are too nice
unlike many boring teams who waste time and go down injured to kill the game when leading we try to carry on playing football
maybe we should bring in george graham he would take us to the top but send us all to sleep in the process
i'd rather quinny any day
so far he's got rid of all the crap and looks likely to reach the play offs at the first attempt in the hardest league to do so
you can't moan at that
