I don't say that they're never fickle, or that they never moan. They moaned on a footaball 'phone in I used to listen to on the way back from work.
But Gary Peters was right when he gave them as an example on Shrewsweb (Q & A, I think) He said that it's reported that, there was a old saying that the fans at the Kop end "Sucked the ball into the net." for Liverpool.
All the things people often HATE about Liverpool- the over-sentimentality, the dramatics..etc... seem to work FOR them when it comes to getting behind their team.
Well- isn't "You'll never walk Alone!" an over-sentimental, tear-jerker of an anthem. But it works.
I don't say that they never verbally abuse players on the pitch- I'm sure they will do. It happens. (I've never been to a Liverpool match or an Everton or any Premiership match except for Wolves years and tears ago with my cousins)
BUT- there's such a tide of love and support from Liverpool supporters that all the negativity appears to get drowned out.
There's a very simple chant they do which would work just as well for Shrewsbury - it's just a slow chant with a lower "echo"- you probably heard it on T.V. on Wednesday. It was just "Liv-er-pool, Liv-er-pool"! It would work equally as well "Shrews- bur- y, Shrews-bu-ry."
I just think, next season, with all these young lads, who are just developing and training hard to raise their game- they need a lot of support. They need their confidence building up. They won't be so hardened to the verbal abuse like the older ones.
We really need to get right behind them from the very start.

Yes, it would work better! Good one!! "Shrewsb'ry- Town" fits the tune perfectly. Shall we try it next season?!!!!
