Lovely Town is Halifax, tidy ground too, it's about 110 miles if you go via the M6 and M62

love going there for some reason, not too far away and like PPP says top ground and top town plus seeing mark atkins scored 2 goals anywhere would endear that place to me forever ;D

The ground is half finished (or it was when we went and there was little activity)
However, the away end is a superb terrace, absolutely massive with a nice high roof.
You guys are always going on about your following, well take large numbers to the Shay and it will look extremely impressive. If you could get a couple of thousand on that terracing it would be quite a spectacle, worth 3 points I'd say!

Radcliffe is only just off the M60, near Bury, so very little difference I would expect

I remember coming out of the last Halifax game at the Shay when Atko scored twice and having a brief conversation with Mr Whycherly. He said "That's the worse game Atkins has ever played for us and yet he scored two goals" Although I liked Atko it's one of the only times I remember him actually having a shot for us!

Halifax by day is the most grim looking town ever, but by night it comes alive with clubbers (and sadly many idiots) coming from Leeds, Bradford and Manchester to enjoy its nightlife, northerners certainly appear to party harder than southerners.
It may be grim up north but Halifax is definitely one of my favourite away days, great pubs, great ground (will be the best in the conf if they can ever get that main stand finished)

Yeah I do like the Shay as well, quite an original ground and as Dale says if the main stand gets finished it will be the best in the conference.
Anyone else remember us losing 2-0 there a few seasons back and having to stand in that little pen where the main stand is being constructed now?

Continue just past the ground and park on the right (about £2). Run out at full time (stopping only to boo twice ) and then get back onto the M62 in 10-15 minutes.

Going to Halifax brings back memories from our league days going to grimy northern s**tholes like Barnsley and Rochdale. Can't wait to get there for a trip down memory lane.

I'm not sure why I would want to go.
I got thumped and my glasses broken in 1979 We lost (maybe drew) a terrible game the season they got relegated to the Conference (first time) After Kerrigan scored was still, I think, the worst I have ever felt coming out of a ground
Things can only get better
