Call me suspicious or somthing like, I have a 16 year old step daughter, and most of you will have met my 8 year old son. But a first has just happened in my household, and i am highly suspicious as to the motives behind this. my lad has just come in from outside playinfg, its 18:10, his bed time is normally 20:30 when he has school the next day, Declared himself TIRED, got into his PJ's and climbed into bed, no tea or bugger all. Does this mean that sometime tonight i will be getting a visit off plod, and he already knows the punishment and he is after a small morale victory? ??

It may be nothing more sinister than him playign football in the street, playing out the big match on the small stage. The ball comes across, he hits a superb voley and the ball flies inside the jumper-goalposts. In his excitment he shouts "Quinn, one-nil" He probably got hounded by the other kids for it and thought he'd better lie low for a while!!!

Seriously if he is tired doesnt eat etc, check for any sort of rash and if he can stand light. At least it will give you peace of mind.

Heed the words of an old, experienced Mum!!-Sounds as if the lad's not well. There's a lot of kids around here got chickenpox- which is strange really- because it usually comes round in the Spring. Can start with vague symptoms, though- I remember our girls both had cold-like symptoms- and were tired and run down- quite a time before the spots arrived! Keep a check on him- and it is better to be cautious. 8-year-olds don't usually go off food or want to come in and go to bed. Good advice to check for rashes, adversion to light ..etc..
