"Either way, the Conference faces a huge legal bill, that may have to be met by member clubs. This move could prove interesting when it comes to the next Conference AGM!"
Operative word: MAY.
does not mean WILL.

Isn't it obvious that there is a material difference between the position at Exeter and, say, the one at Darlington?
The fans have, collectively, taken over ownership of the club from an incompetent and perhaps criminal board who drove the club into the ground. Placing the club in administration was seen as the only way of securing its short-term future. Only alot of misinformation leads people to think that administration is an easy ride.
Isn't it also obvious that the Conference now needs to come to an out of court solution with the decent people who are now running Exeter City Football Club?

The conference have not taken Exeter to court, it is the opposite. Exeter are challenging the FA and the Conference in the High Court, and the Conference does not keep funds to pay lawyers. IF it comes to court all clubs will be asked to contribute. They are only estimating the amount at the moment.
I assume there will be an out of court settlement involving all the football parties, but if the Inland Revenue win their case against Exeter the result will affect a lot of clubs.
