Just read that, Ian- and bookmarked it. Really sorry to read about the Hereford supporters trashing the Tree of light. Honestly- we don't need that. Remember when a woman wrote to the Shropshire Star- and more or less that she was glad that Shrews went down- and maybe she'd be able to shop in peace on Saturdays without having to put up with traffic round the English Bridge and "Football Hooligans"? This is just what some people feed on- and will give some people on the council an excuse to block plans for Gay Meadow. I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist, I know- but I tend to think that, unless we keep up the pressure for Gay Meadow- some people would be quite content to let Telford have all the goodies. They don't even want a Football Team in Shrewsbury, some of them- they just want it to be a "cultured" backwater. Am I being paranoic, or what?

In the "good old days"when there was a good crowd at the Meadow and a large amount of away support travelling by train they used to be escorted up the path on the embankment opposite the ground entrance and directly to their platform. Suppose human rights, health and safety etc now make this impossible but it certainly worked then.

Well, I intend to send a donation (in memory of my Dad) and emphasise in the covering letter that I am a football fan.
