Well that was absolutely shocking wasn't it?
A team devoid of any game plan other than the much loved 'hoof'. Only when O'Connor came on did we get the ball down and get it out wide where we started to look a little more dangerous.
To blame the pitch is pathetic. No, it wasn't great, but it'll be like that a few more times this year, so will we proceed with tactics that only seem to suit our self-serving manager?
Player by Player:
Howie - No saves to make but came for a couple of crosses well and save a bit of confusion with Tinno, did his job well.
Moss - A shakey start but defended well. Only when O'Connor came on, was he used as an attacking force.
Tinson/ridler - Neither will be happy with their distribution but defensively solid as a rock. I applauded the two of them off.
Sedgemore - Poor distribtution but kept James very quiet and had the measure of him. At this level, thats what I'm happy with in a left back.
Edwards - Ran his heart out but got no help from anywhere else.
Street - Poor. didn't hide, but at not point did he look as if he knew what he was supposed to be doing. Gave the ball away frequently.
Aiston - Superb first 25 minutes. Seemed to get hurt after his 50 yard run when he pulled the ball back too far. Wasn't running confidently from then on and drifted in and out of the game. Should have been replaced by Tolley. Still the only forward player to escape my wrath!
Quinn - Utterly clueless. A poor performance as a player, as a manager, even worse. Still note that he only came off due to a bad back.
Cramb - On autopilot. Tried little flicks and passes with looking, missed our best chance of the game. I like him as a player, he's done fine for us, but in the tight games he has not been a difference maker.
Darby - Poor. Work rate was ok, but not as good as last week. His touch was dire and his link-up with Banim non-existent. Who to blame? Quinn's tactics (would Darby/Banim or Cramb/banim worked better straight from kick-off) or should suge a high wage earner have produced more in his last three months at our football club. So far, looks like an expensive mistake, especially with Quinn's mis-management of his forward line.
3.00pm - 4.50pm yesterday was soul-destroying for me, just as much so as some of the games from last year.
