...are they and the many proposals discussed and initiatives started to be assessed?
For example, this is a s**te one mind and it don't mean nowt but it's what got me thinking about it...
We saw a poster produced that advertised the games for the Town in December. It was placed on ShrewsWeb to be downloaded and then posted in the pubs, cafes, schools etc. in and around Shrewsbury, Shropshire and indeed, further afield. I've not see one for January, why?
How do we know if anyone bothered to download it? Was it a problem that it was only online? Should the club print them themselves and ask pubs and the like to post them up? Is that the first and last to be released and if so, why?
How can we measure what impact each initiative has once started? How can we be sure that each initaitive started will continue?

You can either post such an idea on here on a relevent thread or alternatively e-mail it to the relevant e-mail address - Ade P posted them on here before too.
You can confirm that the point has been raised when the minutes are out. Idelally an idea will be on the 'action' plan of the minutes too showing that something will be done.
If so the group will cover it's success/ failure at the next meeting
If in any doubt e-mail Ade Plimmer with suggestions/ questions etc.

the posters go in the fans/download section of the site, i updated it with hucknall yesterday.
must admit i have never seen one up on a wall so not sure whether it's working, not sure if the idea of people distributing them after downloading them is viable then.

Hi Dave,
We are going to look at this at the next meeting on the 22nd. I agree it's no good doing posters if people don't put them up. We need to establish a network of people to distribute them, and of course find willing recipeints to display them.
Dave - you have my e mail for work, so please feel free to mail me if you have any queries about the Umbrella Group.
We are starting to achieve things. The Away Kit comp - Quinny, Roland, and Mal and decideing on the three designs to go up for the public vote today. The opening of the Station End. Getting the Buffets to open later. An All Ticket Policy. It shows it is working. Theb dialogue no exist between fanbase and club, and to be fair the club are lsitening and imlementing our ideas. There are some things that will take time. Bear with us. We are all doing this in our own time.

Thanks for putting them PAB. Do you know why they were being taken down?

I know things are working well and us supporters really appreciate the efforts that other Town fans are putting into this...I'm well over the moon that we can now design and choose our own kit (I'll be voting for the fans design whatever)...and I know this is a result of the group. I also stood on the Station End versus Northwich. Have always thought it would benefit the team to have Town fans on all four sides and I was happy it was opened for us, again down to the group. I'm well happy how things are moving forward...long may it continue...
The posters were just an example but its what got me thinking about the reason I posted...which is how we are to monitor, measure and assess each of the schemes that are introduced by the groups. I guess with the opening the Station End the numbers who used that part of the ground is a clear indicator. With the kit design we may see an increase in sales. However, what about those methods that are used where the results may not be so easy to recognise? Say, to try and get more supporters through the gates, how will we know that should activities are working and are therefore worth continuing? Thats the question I were trying to get across...like if we were to advertise matches and fixtures in local papers (which I think was discussed?)...how will we know if these have been a success and have brought more people through the turnstile? How would we know whether such adverts are worth continuing and the benefits outweigh the costs?

Well Dave in the real world, you'd do market research, do the full marketing mix etc, questionnaires, surveys.
With us obviously time is a problem both with us being volunteers, and the limited staff at Gay Meadow, and of course no resources to use outside agencies.
We are already doing M.R. with the Away Supporters Questionnaire, which is giving us and the club valuable information.
Welsh Shrew has been excellent in doing this, and part of the results, he'll collate to put forward a proposal to the board on issues covering ticket prices and season tickets for 2004/5.
Part of the reason for having the groups isn't just to raise ideas and then forget about them. It is to review and tweak if necessary. Last night we talked about the Ticket Policy, we talked about how effective it was since our proposal came into force for the Tamworth game. We talked about how we could improve it, how we could make sure everyone who deserves a ticket will get one. You know despite all the moaning on this board, everyone seems to have got a ticket. Hereford Shrew put up a thread asking for people to come forward if they didn't get a ticket for Tamworth. None did.
Welsh Shrew identified in his survey that out of 35 who attended all away games nine didn't have a season ticket or card, so for a game say like Telford or one where ticket allocation could be limited, they could miss out. So we talked about ways of including them, either by a register at the club in the first instance, or for next year trying to get them to join the Away Travel Club or a card. It is hard though, especially as you have to consider that a lot of scehemes that could work are limited by money, lack of admin staff etc.
As Judy said last night, the Qusetionnaire must be an on going process and will be repeated.
So Dave I hope you can see that we are taking things like that into consideration. I think the minutes of all the meetings will show this, and will show what we are trying to achieve, what ha sbeen achieved, and were we are going. The overall goal has to be to help Shrewsbury Town, but provide fans with an input. And that is what we are doing.
Dave, I hope the next time your are over from Germany you can maybe give us someidead and tips, and actual help out with some of the initiatives we have started, and those we will imlement in the future.
Like everything it takes time and effort, and we need people who are do - ers rather than just talkers.
I hope this post helps answer your questions.

Stuttgartershrew. I dont really know. A couple of the lads who work there are Telford fans ( that makes it 9 then ;D) but they are a good lot and we often have a bit of banter, so I doubt it was them. Dont think it was management either cos they are pretty open with whats put up (within reason obviously).

I does indeed Ade, thanks...
Please don't think I was being critical our kid, far from it...just a question that all. As I say, I really appreciate the work thats being done by both the supporters and the club when it comes to the groups...
I was a tad disapointed that there wasn't a meeting held when I was back in blighty as I would have liked to have attended, hopefully next time. I doubt I have any ideas but I'm more then willing to help in anyway I can...ta...
