Trawling through the minutes of the meetings of Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council (as you do : and noticed this interesting snippet in the minutes to the meeting on 22 September 2003. In the declaration of members interests Councillor Lord declares the the following interest with regard to the votes on the Shopping Centre/Theatre/New Meadow proposals and the New Stadium Liaison Committee: "Minute 105/03 – Town Centre and Entertainment Venue and Minute 112/03 – Liaison Committee for New Stadium – Personal and prejudicial interest as Directors of Shrewsbury Town Football Club were personal friends and his business benefitted financially from the Club. He left the room during the consideration of and voting on these items." Things never cease to surprise .
