Watched the video yesterday-( the first chance I got, since Mr Wiggy is a box-hogger- as well as a traditional male remote-control hogger- and if I want to watch anything- I have to watch it on the old T.V. upstairs, which has no video.) The historic STFC shirt was very much in prominence, i noticed- particularly in the hilarious scene with the cucumber!! You could clearly see the STFC badge in the close up. Now, I admit- I don't know a lot about these guys. There have been posts about them, but I didn't print them off- and I can't remember all the details. How did the bass player guy get his STFC shirt? Wasn't it in a charity shop or something weird like that? I thought the film was very funny- and for those of us old enough to remember- that send up of how they got started as one of those really geeky sixties bands was spot on! It was black humour about the drummers, though- shades of Keith Moon..etc..

He said he just liked the colours, and is not a football fan. I understand he now does voices on the Simpsons.

The actor who plays Derrick Smalls the Bass player, who wears the STFC shirt in the film, is the actor Harry Shearer.
Harry Shearer lives in the USA and can be heard on our screens regularly as the voice of Monty Burns in the Simpsons.
He claims that when visiting Carnaby Street in London he walked into SoccerScene noticed the shirt, really liked it and bought it. Each of the bands characters were scripted to show support for an English Club in the movie. (you also see reference from the lead singer? to Wolves on his baseball cap).
Shearer although knowing nothing about STFC wore his "football colours" in the form of the 1980/1981 season replica umbro shirt.
Hope this helps.

Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest are now involved in a film about folkies, satirising those squeaky clean acts from the early 60's like Peter Paul & Mary and the Kingston Trio. Personally I couldn't stand them, but they did open a door for Bob Dylan and those who followed, so they can't be all bad. I think the film is called 'A Mighty Wind' - so we know what to expect

Definitely watch out for that one , dave- sounds good. I suppose you could say that Simon and Garfunkel were a bit like that when they first started out- used to play with their college scarves on- how pretentious is that?!!! Joan Baez also- but at least she laughs about it- and sends herself up, when she said they themselves too seriously. (Then she got involved with Dylan, of course. ) Dylan- well- isn't he the prime example of a weedy guy with a big nose and not at all good looking who's devilishly sexy and attractive to women?!!! When I first heard "Like a Rolling Stone" - I was in a bedsit in Liverpool- and heard it on the radio- it really blew my mind, as they say!!

There is a very good article in Saturdays (colour section) Guardian about Christopher Geust. Married to Jamie Lee Curtis for the past 20 years.
