Just found this on Teamtalk- www.teamtalk.com/teamtalk/News/Story_Page/0,7760,1856_474840,00.html Could there be some foundation for a certain young person's worries? Are these the sort of "lies" that worried her? NOT that it makes G.P. any less efficient a manager- but IS it true that he doesn't always mean what he says -or does he change his mind, according to the circumstances? I wonder which of the "other lads" were really upset? My guess is that Sedge would be- he looked it, even before the end of the season, he must have known. We've got to look to the future, though. No use indulging in any "what if's".

Obviously there's a difference as why Tinno and Sedge weren't given a new contract. Tinno has had solid season apart from the odd mistake. Sedge had good games but he hasn't been regularly good. I'm sorry to say this but Sedge was an average player and due to having many average players is why we finished where we finished. Same goes for Sam. Crowd pleaser he may be but his final product was poor. Apart from Tinno I agree 100% with GP's decisions

What lies?
GP said age didn't matter when picking his side, and so it proved...

We'll miss Darren Tinson next season. I think the only reason that Darren Tinson has not been offered a contract is because David Walton is still on one and probably quite a good one at that.
So its Cowan and A.N. Other with someone being brought in cheaply and one old pro - but only the one.
I think the Tinson decision is the only one that caused GP real difficulties judging from the meetign a few weeks ago.

Walton (300+ games) and Whitehead (200+ games) are both very experienced football league centre backs and Cowan looks very promising. We have enough experience there, I would expect Peters to sign a young fourth choice centre back.

Do we need to sign another centre back with GP clearly seeing potential in Cadwallander by offering him a contract? I suppose another centre half wouldn't hurt, but could wages be better spent elsewhere, i.e. up front to bring in a high quality replacement for Luke?

I wonder if we will get the number of games next season from Ben Smith, Duane Darby and David Walton combined that we got last season from Darren Tinson?

I wonder if we will get the number of games next season from Ben Smith, Duane Darby and David Walton combined that we got last season from Darren Tinson? No way. I still think GP got it wrong on Tinson. And as for 'lies', there is a difference between considering someone's age when making a decision to play a contracted player, and then offering that player a new contract and limiting your options. We will still need another centre back I think, but GP now has another decision. Does he take a gamble on Cadwallader as the 4th centre back or does he make another signing? Andy Wilkinson's future may have something to do with it as he offers 3 positions.

Its just typical isnt it, we find a truly great manager and all we hear on here is allegations, insinuations and negativity...i really do wonder why people bother going to the meadow sometimes.

I think we're sure to have differences of opinions about this.
As for me, I was just puzzled about the reason for Mrs Tolley's worries- and wondered if this could be the reason.
I don't think it detracts from the fact that G.P. is a great manager.

"and all we hear on here is allegations, insinuations and negativity"
Maybe on a couple of threads, but the overwhelming consensus on here is that GP has done a decent job and he is the man to take the club in the right direction.

gp had a choice due to the budget we have to either resign tinno or whitehead and he chose whitehead due to him being younger. if he is looking to put together a team that will be together for the next 2-3 years then i think it was better to sign whitehead who probably has another 3/4 years left than tinno who probably only has 1.

So if we compare starts only - Tinno vs darby, Smith, Walton - what are the scores on the doors?

Tinson IMO was very average for 3/4 of the season.
He, like Challis, came alive in the final part of the season.

I did some random statting the other day. Kelvin Langmead has an average of 1 goal every 10 games. If he were to stay at Salop, and keep his current goal ratio until he retired (Around 35) he will have scored 64 times in Shrewsbury colours.
