I really think Wayne Rooney is becoming one of the best players in Europe if not the World! He has added regular goal scoring to his talents this season and seems to be finding the right balance with his temprement. Fascinating battle with Cole today which Rooney won but Cole played well also

I hope I do, and it starts next summer but I said the same about Tim Henman, but yet to hear anything. Yes you said the same about Henman (and Paula Ratcliffe) but you heard plenty in their defence, but you chose to ignore it (11 top ranking world singles champonships Henman has won to date- what a failure : The British disease of knocking our top sports stars is alive and kicking in Harmerhill Strange Andrew that you support Shrewsbury Town because they never won the Champions league did they

No one supports Britians sports stars more than me. Rooney is a rare talent, and I hope he goes on to win loads of medals and cups, more for his country than his club. (Unless he signs for Town). Having watched the highlights, (the few) of yesterdays game, Rooney shone like a beacon. You Paul are old enough to remember a certain Paul Gascoinge and the hype that surrounded him. The Rooney situation is very similar and at their respective stage of their careers both have or had received similar stature in the game. The one difference is Rooney is under a far stronger manager who will not stand messing around like Gazza got away with in London. My original post on this thread was done as was the one on the Paula Ratcliffe thread, but everything I have said about Henman still stands.

but how does it still stand. He has won a masters, countless other top ranking tournaments and has reached the latter stages of grand slams on a number of occassions. People worship bobby robson, and terry venables but they didnt win the european cup, world cup, euro championships or even the the english league. For what he has achieved, and baring in mind the tennis system in place in this country he has achieved a great deal. You only need look at the other british players of his generation

Change of name due to birthday Rob Lets save this one for when we have a quite week When the Footballs over I would think most people are bored with the subject. Answer to the question. When a British tennis player returns a backhander he's hailed as a hero.

17 goals in 36 starts isnt bad considering he is still only 18/19.
Also playing just behind the front mad, out on the right means that to expect him to score most games is unfair as thats not the role he performs, certanly not this season.
