One thing that was not discussed last night was how the commercial activities of the club could contribute to giving GP more funds....
I will be surprised if this does not become a big issue as and when we start to improve on the field. After all why should money for a must have new player come out of the Chairman's pocket when a successful commercial department could be a great avenue to raise additional funds on top of gate receipts!!
After all as GP says this club needs to become as professional and pro active as possible in every department and improving revenue streams has to be a main target....golden gamble tickets are an important matchday activity but year round we have to start thinking outside the box and looking for major income activities.

Absolutely aye. Plenty of money can be made and while I hate to go on about it AFCTU have shown what can be done with local businesses etc.

As Mr Broseley says on another thread a five year plan on the field but what about the five year plan off the field!
It strikes me that planning is not always evident in the corridoors of Gay Meadow power and it could also be said they fire fight rather than plan maybe just maybe with GP's influence as a catalyst we can start to build a robust club both on the field and financially off it!!
Do we need new personnel to do it??? Or are the current incumbents up to the task!!??

Fair point HHS! But is does not have to be just one benefactor or indeed any benefactor, . A really active fundraising commercial team can do wonders, it doesn't matter if you copy other ideas as long as they work and they are lucrative!!

Pleased to hear that Tim, where do I or others send ideas too if we can come up with some of course. I am very pleased to see we have such a committee I was totally oblivious to its existence before your post!
Main line of my first comments was the COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT are paid to add additional revenue are they up to the task??

For me, you only need to take a look at the commercial activities at Walsall FC to see that Salop are lagging way behind in this area. We have a lot to learn. Granted the new Bescot has opened many new possibilities for the Saddlers. However, with the New Meadow not too far away we need a new Commercial Manager or Director in place for us to also be able to take full advantage of our new stadium.
Through their commercial activities I believe that Walsall is one of only a few clubs who actually make a profit? Amongst other things…plenty of non-match activities, car boot sales, retro kits and I believe a hotel has now been mooted. They’ve also moved to Nike for their kit supplier for next season…yes, I’m still bitter ;D…and I’ve no doubt there balance sheet will benefit from that move an all…
