Staff 3 v ASFC 0 Great game of football played in a very good spirit. ASFC had nearly all the play in the first half but could not break down the Staff defence marshalled very well by GP. Staff the lead from a Sankey 20yd piledriver at the start of the second half. Then from a Mick Wadsworth corner Steve Biggins rolled back the years with a deft near post header. Biggins increased the lead with a 20yd chip. The ASFC played well and can be proud but some of the staff just let the ball do the work. Star of the show, Mick Wadsworth. Some neat touches and some great one liners to the crowd. Played on the left side all the second half in front of the dug outs and was giving it the talk to both benches. Well done all, a very enjoyable evening.

I thought Rob Lewis' decision against Tottenham was harsh but his free kick against PC is genuinely one of the worst decisions I have ever seen just laughable seriously though, all the officials were good sports and the game itself was pretty decent to watch and went a whole lot faster than Saturday! My MOM from ASFC was probably Gallon

i was totally gutted 2nd half 3 attempts on target and all went in can't remember who scored the first but i could only get a fingertip to it the 2nd goal was a sucker punch biggins rose like a tin of salmon to make us look silly 3rd goal was biggins with his, so he said after 'first ever chipped goal' ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it was zola all over again anyway after the first half i thought we had em beat but biggles wadsworth & williams put on a * taking display to make us look like the amatuers we really are well done staff

Bugger, thought we had em until the first goal went in. Good game, thoroughly enjoyable, bring on next season!! You could tell GP used to play for Wimbledon though couldn't you. 'Easy ball to feet' wasn't part of his repotoir for the evening

Then from a Mick Wadsworth corner Steve Biggins rolled back the years with a deft near post header. The near post header - Salop legend - trying to explain to the kids playing what it was. Well done Steve Biggins, still a star. Only a very few of us from ASFC knew what it was all about. Those were the days.

Must add a well played to laptop too. Hadn't played since September due to a knee injury, thanks to some nice people from Burnley (in the line of duty ) And had been on the lemsips as not feeling 100%. Gave a really good display, not bad for a 43 year old (is it ok to put your age Alan ) I've tried to sign him for next year, suppose I really should tell Gerry! As for ASFC, loads of really good performances, probably gave the staff their best game in many a year. My man of the match was appropriately player of the season Gallon, who had a monster game, but everyone did really well and can be well proud of themselves.

A very enjoyable game i must say. i thought the team did very well against a very good, organised side. The staff defence was well organised by GP. In all fairness i didnt stand a chance against them. Nevermind!! Alot of positives to take from that performance and hopefully we can do the same in Barca!!

Good game to play in and thought we played very well especially first half with some neat passing play. Problem is we didnt quite have the quality to get past their rear guard or finish like they did and the latter was the main difference in the result. Biggins beat me to the corner for the second in a classic move, we should have really put a player in front of him he's that good at it. Cant wait to see the video

Those were the days. Brought a tear to my eye Chris Fair play to MW whose delivery on all corners was spot on just like Paul Maguire.

We even got a brief match report on Radio Shropshire this morning - "The annual Shrewsbury Town Staff vs Supporters placeat the Gay Meadow last night, with Gary Peters and Mike Wadsworth turning out for the Staff. They proved too strong for the supporters who run out 3-0 winners with two goals by former town legend Steve Biggins"

Really enjoyed the first half as we had them rattled but quality shines through as all the goals were well taken. Delany lad at the back was very good and Brian Williams played a corker for them as well. We did very well thorughout the game and produced a very rounded team performance with some good possesion. 'Tis not all about the game though, pre-match nerves, kicking a ball about on the meadow, a bit of banter with players and staff and off for a beer and curry with friends aswell. It's whats being part of the ASFC is all about

Really enjoyed the game.
It's nice to play on the Meadow, you never really realise how big it is until you get onto it.
I thought we didn't embaress ourselves and really dissapointed we didn't get a goal. The staff team's quality came through at the end.

What can you say!! Some of the football in the first half after we settled was as good as we have played all year, AT and Carlos Playing it out wide to Edgie and Dunny on the overlap. Direct balls to me and Davis sticking most of the time attacks building from there. The back line looking relatively untroubled!!! Only problem is GP was never going to let us score in a million years and the strong hard new fitness coach they had playing center back with him was really really good!!! I though Giles was up there for a call at Man of the match as even in his second stint he was giveing all when we appeard to have given up and he was captin. He would have been running Gal close if he had stayed of after H/T i bet. All in all well played all. Just wish my shot in the first half had have curlled a tiny bit more and we could really have had something to celebrate!!! Im knackered after that though - got home and my dad said "well played glyn but you do chace a lot of lost causes!!!!" Anyway - next stop barca to win the club a Pot!!! I will do a match report from this game soon but i will wait for the vidio and cos im sad and have nothing much better to do over the summer will do a "opta index" statistical analyisis of the game such as shots, psss completion %, Tackles, saves etc - should be intresting!!!!

Really enjoyed last nite! The ASFC seem to get better every year and it was a nervous atmosphere in our changing room at half-time GP said, and i quote "blimey i didnt realise they were that good". Judy Shone was not a happy lady at all, her team talk made The Osbournes look like the Waltons But Biggs made the difference 2nd half, quality near post header for the second goal and cute & quality one-two with yours truly for the third with another class finish! Had a couple of tasty tackles (which i love) with the ASFC right-back last nite who was that? Oh and Ant.....i'll have that pint sooner rather than later please. P.S match video's are going to be available to purchase, PM Whitters as he is collating a list for Steve Yates. Looking forward to next season Paul.

The boys did me proud last night and that quote from GP is terrific.
I thought the way we played first half was top notch, we were still good 2nd half but the introduction of Biggins was definitely the difference.
It's a been a quality season and the spirit has never been better.
Looking forward to seeing the video too.

I remember putting a couple tackles on you by the touchline second half but i was playing centre half. Im the fella on the front of the match prgramme sheet. Enjoyed being interviewed in the stands by the way before kick off, it'll be good to see how that comes out on the video. Glad our first half performance was noted. I thought we started well in the second as well but the finsihing for the Staff was the difference.

"GP said, and i quote "blimey i didnt realise they were that good". That really does make you proud!!! Well done lads.... He wouldn't of said that a few years ago!!! No disrespect to the lads playing then (and that was my heyday!!! - yep still crap then!!), but the ASFC has got stronger each and every one of the last few seasons and that shone through on Tuesday night. Remember too that GP used to be quite involved with the Preston Supporters side, both coaching and playing for them when he could, so he does know a thing or two about the levels of Supporters footy. Indeed the Preston team back then was a very good side. That is one hell of a compliment lads - you should be well proud
