Nice to have a young ambitious manager. Ambitious or naive? Things will toughen up when you reach the regional Conference level

Niaive at the start of the season for sure, but he sure learned fast during Nov & Dec and made great additions when they were needed.
I expect us to do well next season, maybe even challenge again for promotion. The level above that will be more testing!!

Oh dear how many times have we heard conference clubs make those claims.
Nearly always ends in tears.
He's set a rod for his back by which he'll be judged.

Didnt Andy Shaw say the same thing - his dream was to get Telford into the football league - look what happened!

I can visualise the boardroom at AFC Telford now. Shakey with a knife in the piggy bank trying to get all the money out to see if they can afford Howie

I think a 28 year old Brock is far better bet than a 33-year old Howie! The major differences between the past and now is the involvement of everyone in the club. Whilst Bernie may be on cloud nine and may be a little over-ambitious at the moment, there is no doubt that the foundations of a very solid club are being built and that if this platform is used properly we can climb back through the leagues. I'd rather have a ex-international player as manager that signs promising youngsters than only those over the age of 30. Otherwise we'd have to tell a load of old blokes there was no new contract for them at some point when we we had narrowly missed out on relegation!

thats what gp is doing?, he may not be ex-international, but i beleive he will sign promising youngsters, and having narrowly missed out on relegation he is telling (and rightly so) a load of "old" blokes there services are no longer required, and i hope bernie mac fulfils his ambition of becoming a league manager

I think that SNFC was hinting at the fact that GP is reaping what was sown by JQ (the ex international). JQ's tactics were exactly right for the situation we were then in though, as are GP's for the future.

Why not be ambitious?
After all it is our clubs ambition to be a chamionship team? People could say thats a bit far fetched?

Spot on Soupie.
I still say JQ put you back as a club by at least 2 years though!

I disagree Rob.
Better to be promoted in season 2 with a promising young squad, thatn have to rebuild all over again 12 months later!
short-sighted to say JQ did a good job IMO, another year down with a young squad on the way up is much better

Mainly due to goalscorers. We were never really without one in the Conference and that kept things ticking along ok. This year, it would have been play-offs again. As for the loss of crowds etc., then I think you're missing the point. We had a one shot chance of getting back up quickly without irreplacable damage being done to the football club. We did it.

This year has worked out the way some of us expected. GP has a clear plan, with reasonable expectations to take us forward, he might be bringing in a lot of young players but most will probably already have league experience.
