Why not wait till the club actually say what kind of ID is going to be needed apart from Membership cards before going mental. Why hasn't one of the experts of this board who knew hundreds of Scunny fans were going to be trying to get in the home end a week ago contacted the club, they wouldn't have minded the early warning The blame must lie with you surely

If you don't live in Shropshire, as many Town fans don't, what form of ID could possibly distinguish you from a Sc***horpe supporter?

I'm talking about those that pay on the gate who are probably the majority i'd say.
A lot of fans don't wear colours to games either.

ok, heres the scene.
Im a town fan who is not a member (not conscienciously, just never bothered)
I live in Somerset, so have no local ID.
I travel 150 miles to the match, because I cant prove Im local, I cant get in?
am I getting this right?

lets be honest they dont give a s**te. Adults get in as kids, some people get in for free, the gatemen are merely locals who are helping the club out and cant be doing with any grief. The stewards are clueless and only interested in gangways, the police leave any minnor disturbances to the stewards (who are busy patrolling gangways). This is a local club for local people, as has been seen plenty of times in the past, it doesnt matter if the opposing fans have cockney accents, welsh accents, northern accents, are wearing luton hats or swansea shirts, they are still allowed in as long as they stomp up £12. What makes anyone think saturday will be any different?

Barnet away ticket and Radcliffe programme it is then Other identifying signs: Scunny fan: Big smile on face, cheerful upbeat banter. Town fan: Frown, mouthing a prayer that Tolley isn't playing, bag full of own food rather than the burgers, gets to turnstile and says "I'm not going in, I've had enough "

At present we are probably not coming.
Why? Partly the cricket season has started (although Mr S&R has missed the first game many times), BUT, the swinging factor was the potential problem of Sc***horpe fans in the wrong parts of the ground.
We have obvious reasons for this decision, as I'm sure you will realise.

I might be wrong but haven’t the Riverside, Wakeman and home stands been “Members Only” for a number of years? It’s very rare for anyone to actually check if you have a membership card (probably because there hasn’t been a need for it) but I think the signs are still up outside the ground.
It would be a shame if the game on Saturday is ruined by crowd trouble. I remember the game in 1994 when Town won the title at Sc***horpe and there was a really good atmosphere there, the Sc***horpe fans even applauded the Town supporters at the end of the match. I also seem to recall that there were a fair few Town fans in the “home” end that day - there was certainly a lot of cheering in that end of the ground when Gary Patterson scored for us in the first half.

don't envisage any bother to be honest - there's never been any history of trouble at games between ourselves as your promotion at ours testifies. Uncertainty of gaining entry is rightly worrying for alot of folk - something the 2 clubs and the police could have thought out and communicated better and earlier. Seems they've left themselves with 500 odd spaces for leeway in the away end, although i don't agree with the arrangement, i would imagine it'd be sufficient. Here's to a good game saturday - Rodgers scores a blinder on his farewell Butler nods in an reply, everybody goes home happy, we see you again in a couple of seasons.............

No they are not members only That was chnaged several years ago, except the club forgot to tell us and left large members only signs above the gates despite two years of raising the issue the signs were only taken down when Gary Bright slagged thme off in B&A Fanzine Issue 2 or 3 I think BUT back to this thread, and , to be honest I think it is aload of rubbish. Not everyone has season tickets or membership cards. If the clubw ere going to do this they would have made it all ticket for home fans. It is just a scare tactic, and frankyl, if a Scunny fan comes in and see shis team get promoted then fair enough, i;d buy him a pint because they have done well

Hopefully it will be the same atmosphere as there was at Scunny in 1994 and a 4-1 result to us this time Cant imagine there being any trouble with the scunny fans we're all just coming for the party and lots of us are booked into hotels & B&B's saturday night. Dont let the gloom and doom merchants talk up the scenario! The vast majority of our fans and yours I imagine are all decent Fans anyway All the best Celty

and frankly, if a Scunny fan comes in and sees his team get promoted then fair enough, i'd buy him a pint because they have done well So, that's 2500 Scunny fans changing ends to collect their pints from Dave.... p.s. anyone noticed I "de-Pricied" the quote

I think they are slightly nervous of things kicking off in a bad way saturday...you cant blame them! Talk of a few hundred coming from up north to support Scunny in the home end is worrying. Its all talk. All you have to do in this situation is say no ticket, dont get in. We are not going to get loads of Scunny fans in the our end. One or two yes, not thousands.
