I think everyone's being a little harsh to link51 here, everyone has an opinion - if you don't agree with it there's no need to personally abuse them. Link - in answer to your question, I'm a firm believer that football fans are far more passionate about the sport that they love than say rugby fans. Hence, tempers boil over now and again. Go to a game and you'll realise this is simply not true. An added bonus of RL is one can have a pint whilst watching the game!

Yup, it's pretty obvious.
However, this thread is on something completely different to what his normal posts run along with.
If you're that bothered with him though why do you bother replying in the first place?

I was replying to "cr@p like this is one reason why I'm forever losing interest." Don't we all just wish he would lose all interest and slope off elsewhere?

If you're that bothered with him though why do you bother replying in the first place? Regardless of subject matter he talks rubbish. You cannot let some of his points go unchallenged. As I have stated before the young and impressionable will believe what he says.

You do know who Link51 is? But having a go at everything he says just because of who he is makes very little sense.

Patronising post that Andy. If you can't leave some of his posts to go unchallenged then you should at least have some dignity in response otherwise you just sink to his level.

And lets hope that that is the exception that proves the rule.
I'm looking at this thread and I am still unable to figure out why there has been such a strong reaction to anything Link51 has said.
I have a personal view that I prefer segregation because supporting your team is a tribal thing and I don't want to be sitting or standing next to someone supporting the other side.

Couldn't agree more, couldn't we also segregate those supporters who only turn up at cup games too

An easy answer to this problem would be to end segregation of fans, except perhaps where two clubs have a real 'history'. Rival fans of every other sport manage to sit and stand side by side at the game. All segregation does is increase tension by 'upsetting' home fans when visiting supporters are in 'their' part of the stadium. The more vocal elements would probably self-segregate anyway to an informal away end. I've cheered on the Town from the 'home' parts of many grounds and have never had any trouble. cr@p like this is one reason why I'm forever losing interest. Why as this post got so much stick? or have I missed something? Isn't it time to look at ways of going back to the days when there wasn't segregation? 100,000 people standing side by side from both teams at wembley. I can recall going to watch a few Wolves games in the late 60's early 70's standing next to opposition fans and not one bit of trouble. Take the Conference last season how friendly the atmosphere was at some of these games where the opposing fans made STFC fans so welcome All you need to do is kick out the Hooligan element, The police know who most of the trouble makers are from these Football Clubs and on away games they all have their laptops (police spotter) for those who don't know him. Finally, for those who drink in the Dun Cow, Crown, Nags head etc. etc. How often do you see trouble in these pubs? Yet the away fans are in there and intergrating very well with ours.

Segregation improves atmosphere in my opinion.
Take Leigh last year. The 1000 Town fans there would have made a much better atmosphere shoved into a tiny pen somewhere in the ground.
