I have seen on their website that they are expecting about 1000 fans to travel with no ticket. They will easily be able to get into the ground as long as they arent wearing colours. Will it be safe enough with kids?

I think somebody added an extra "0". 100 or so might make the journey and if they do I am sure they will be moved to the away end.

From the official Sc***horpe site:
"Sc***horpe United supporters who haven't got tickets for Saturday's game at Shrewsbury are been urged not to travel. There will no cash turnstiles open on the day of the match so supporters without tickets will not be admitted to the ground.
The Iron have already sold their 1,920 allocation for the match as they look to secure promotion."

An easy answer to this problem would be to end segregation of fans, except perhaps where two clubs have a real 'history'.
Rival fans of every other sport manage to sit and stand side by side at the game. All segregation does is increase tension by 'upsetting' home fans when visiting supporters are in 'their' part of the stadium.
The more vocal elements would probably self-segregate anyway to an informal away end. I've cheered on the Town from the 'home' parts of many grounds and have never had any trouble.
Crap like this is one reason why I'm forever losing interest.

Hi sc***horpe United fan here
There has been alot of talk of people traveling without a ticket i think 1000 maybe abit over the top i'd expect the figure to be more round 300-400. It could be the 1st time since in 22 years that we win automatic promotion and the 1st time in near 50 years that we could win a league championship. The tickets for your away sold out very quickly as you can imagine. As we don't believe the game will be a sell out alot of our supporters were disappointed that your club wouldn't consider given us anymore tickets . I hope that if our fans do get into the home end they don't act like t*ts. Heres to a good game of football with a party atmosphere

Can't you just lose interest all together an beggar off to another messageboard to spread your bile? What is wrong with suggesting that fans should not be segregated. What is the point in segregating 100 anoraks who travel down from Darlington on a Tuesday night, with all the costs that are involved. Far better to let a few hundred town fans on the Station End and improve the GM atmosphere. Likewise, what is the point in losing large amounts of revenue because a ground with an already (ludicroulsy!) artificially low capacity of 8000 can't be 'filled' because fans must be segregated. The profile of fans of Rugby League clubs in terms of the towns they come from, Socio Economic Status etc etc. is very similar to those of lower division football fans. If the former can sit and stand together at the match why not the latter?

Just shows how many games you came to at the Meadow last season Fans were still segregated in the Station Stand. Segregation was even more pathetic for the likes of Leigh and Forest Green.

Do you EVER go to any games? I dont think you do as once again you are making a prat of yourself, not hard. Only a few hundred. Not so many as you perhaps but I play sport on my Saturdays. I've been cheering the visitors in the 'wrong' section of at least twenty grounds, including Maine Road and St Andrews amongst others. My father visited Old Trafford, Elland Road etc. in the 70s. Answer my question. Why is it Rugby League, whose fans are as partisan as those in football, and in which there are some fierce local rivalries, does not need to segregate fans yet football does? Segregation only adds to trouble. Plenty of lads in Lacoste etc. down at Knowsley Road, but Wigan and Saints can stand together.

I think everyone's being a little harsh to link51 here, everyone has an opinion - if you don't agree with it there's no need to personally abuse them.
Link - in answer to your question, I'm a firm believer that football fans are far more passionate about the sport that they love than say rugby fans. Hence, tempers boil over now and again.

A five year old story from a high profile match when ticketing arrangements meant fans were (gasp!) segregated. Wigan/Saints, Leeds/Bradford and Widnes/Warrington each take place at least three times a season. Rivalries are fare fiercer than the Chester v Wrexham or Exeter v Torquat type lower league Derby, yet trouble is very rare.
