It's now official. Just heard on Radio Shropshire news that Bill Wingrove has lest the Club. He has recently been off work with stress and a financial package has been agreed. Wonder if there will be time to have his name removed from the programme in time for next week's game!

Why should the club have to pay him off ?
He wasn't here for very long at all. Did he ever sign a contract ?

And Nick Jones did! Serves me right for not reading all the texts first, and only looking for one with Bill Wingrove in the title! Double

As I understand it, termination of employment within the first twelve months (with or without a contract) does not entitle the employee to any settlement other than wages. If I'm right that's my opinion - if I'm wrong. I was told that by Welsh Shrew!

Well, we warned he'd turn out to be an absolutely useless appointment and so it's turned out to be. What a waste of money

At least he was a waste of an appointment and not what we origionall feared, a "secret ally" of Gutterman etal operating within the confines of our club

Why any compensation? is THE question indeed.

why didn't the Board realise it was going to be a dodgy or useless appointment at the start? Many people expressed concern from day 1.
Anyway, thanks goodness he's no longer around!

Is it possible he was worse than are previous CEO-Andrew Burman (sp?)
What odds that the club publically advertise the post in future, as opposed to use their Know how to secure someone else?

God knows what he was asked to do here. He managed to work with Gutterman + Hamilton, then gets stress at the Meadow

We need a commercial manager...
Really not too sure what Mike Thomas is doing at the moment, anyone know?
But for me the club should just advertise the position and see if they can get someone in with a proven record within football...stop giving the position to folk they know. How can they know they have the best person for the position if they don't open it to everyone to apply?

The first inkling I had that something wasn't right was at the meeting in the sponsors bar about the NM supporters bar - Bill Wingrove never said a word.

as has already been questioned - why pay him off?
what did he contribute to the benefit of STFC in his time here, which was anonymous at best?

I'm sure the club have advertised the post in the past, with no real success, Mike Thomas was stepping down I think, but was asked to stay on as commercial manager for a bit longer, Whitters might know the answers

I'm sure the club have advertised the post in the past, with no real success. I stand corrected... Its just of late we seem to have folk join the club in some capacity or another only for them to move on a few months later. Just seems to be a lack any of stability at a time when there has never been a better time in football to generate income through commercial activities...and we have the New Meadow on the way. I'd like them to advertise the position this time round, see what response they have... Serious question, would no one from B&A be interested in the role of Commercial Manager at STFC?

This makes me more angry the more I think about it. We've had to get rid of our marketing manager (Mark Peters) because we couldn't afford him - and now we're paying off a CE who has done nothing while with the club. What a waste

This post was not advertised. Unless you mean previous to Bill W? Anyone who thinks that 50K wouldn't get a stack of decent candidates to apply for the role though? If only the club weren't so f**king useless and insular in so many ways.

any job at STFC currently has the employment prospects similar to a lamb walking into an abatoir
You don't even have to struggle because you won't be there long enough for it to hurt
