What has happened to that hotbed of football passion that is Wearside.?
Only 34000 to see their team promoted back to the premier. The stadium of sheiss has been about as full as the JJB all season?

Perhaps people can't afford the prices. Perhaps the novelty of having a new stadium has worn off.
Roker used to hold 16,000 so their attendances are still rather good compared to what they were getting a few years back.

Roker never held 16000. 22500 for the last couple of seasons (1995-7), 30000 post Hillsbrough. The 80s capacity was 36000 which they would have surely filled back then for a vital promotion game. Attendances generally are 50% bigger these days. Ipswich, Leeds, West Ham all get bigger crowds in division 2. Crowds at Derby, Leicester and Nottingham are comparable this year despite the terrible season those teams are having. Surely Sunderland are bigger than that?

Derby? Terrible season? If that's your idea of a terrible season then you're a harsh judge!!! I stand corrected. But Sunderland are as 'big' as Derby, so why not 30000+ every week at the SOL?

Mate, Deportivo got that kind of attendance when they were in CL, if that Deporvito are a bunch of Galician Dagoes who should stick to cleaning up oil slicks and fondly remembering El Caudillo. We're talking about real football clubs here.

Football is more widely and passionately followed in Britain than any other country in the world.

Sorry, meant to say Sunderland were averaging that sort of crowd at Roker only a decade ago. What are they averaging this seaosn, 25,000+?
