We can trust them to bugger up the country like they did last time And the mess Labour left after the "Winter of Discontent" was fantastic was it? Yes, the Torys lost the plot at the end of their time in power but the mess they over was terrible.

Your dead right about the winter of discontent, big balls up by the unions But what is your honest opinion of the shape of the country today. Low unemployment, low interest rates, strong economy, improving public services, we can all moan about the price of petrol ect, but are we really in the same state we where in 1979, or even 1997? Can people really be justified for calling for a change of government? IMHO i think the cliche " we have never had it so good " is very justified, and people who want to change now are completely bonkers.

excellent post Pab. I'm not a labour fan, but I can see no real reason to want a change of government now. I think Labour should be pushing on the message baout how strong and stable things in our country are, such as the economy, else the public could be taking them for granted.

Surely there is no comparison with the Labour Gov of the seventies and now.
Perhaps you'd like to point out the changes in the Tory party from the regime that by your own admission had lost the plot

Labour are the best tory government we have ever had other than maggies government. He gets my Tory vote every time.
Gordon Brown will not however get my vote if he becomes leader, so beware labour, hes not an election winner like Tony is!
The Conservatives need to ditch Howard and the Lib Dems need to ditch Kennedy, neither will ever get into power, not a chance.

Tell that to the pensioners who have had their pension funds raided by Brown Watch out for what Labour will to puiblic service pension after they win this election (including NHS ones) and they will win it Tell that to council tax payers and Rover workers and everyone else when Tax goes up after the election Sister Pab They will win by 60 or more this time but next time I suspect many people will pretend they never voted for them in 2005 This is a governemnt near but not yet at the end of its sell by date Can we trust the Tories not yet but next time possibly?

You're a scream, kickin Why do you think every opinion poll shows Blair to be a massive electoral liability? Why do you think he's had to eat humble pie and put Brown at the forfront of the campaign? Why are more than 90% of Labour candidates, even allies like Milburn and Reid, not having a photo of him on their election leaflets? Why is Brown holding his hand at every major event? "He's not an election winner like Tony is" Absolutely priceless

You cannot really trust anyone you haven't known for a long time. And when you know you can't trust them you need to have a written contract to sue the ass of them.
As I have neither with respect to the Tories, the answer is no.

you can trust the tories to; Put up interest rates & cause negative equity on housing, Get about a million people on the dole within 12 months, instead of cleaning hospitals just close them down, and start off the next stage of the pole tax. Theres only one good tory and thats a lavatory, and we all know what thats used for. ;D

How could we ever trust the tories just a few of the things thats happened this week:
1 Tories say crime is going up Chief Constables say crime is coming down. Panorama tomorrow night will say that after a month long investigation crime is falling.
2. MRSA figures are sent to millions of households and then Michael Howard has to admit that the figures are grossly overstated. Nursing Council says that closing wards will increase infections.
3 Immigration figures overstated condemned by United Nations Refugee Agency.
4. Michael Howard I will not increase taxes Oliver Letwin his shadow chancellor will give no promise on Taxes or National Insurance.
5. Discount for pensioners on council tax but not this year and then only where there are two people over 65 living in the house.
6. Postal Votes Conservatives blocked any changes to the rules and vet each application to see they are tory voters before submitting them.
They have only one message
FEAR

Use your Vote, have your say. But if you vote Tory then don't say you haven't been warned.

If anyone is fortunate enough to have a Tory land on their doorstep this week, please ask them about the lies in their publication on MRSA, and why they need a sudden reprint
