Yeah! I get the point- but my job is helping Dyslexic children to read better- and spell properly!!
It's not SO bad if they get the right letters in the wrong order, but quite often, they spell the same word differently every time they write it- and some of the spelling is really off the wall!
Last week, I was trying to help a little group with writing- the sort of task they have to do for their SATs tests. (Not my favourite task, it's like putting the cart before the horse, making them write before they've got enough skills. But their teachers have to put them in for these tests.) I tried to read one little girl's writing, and, (bearing in mind that I was a class teacher for 30 years before I specialised in Dyslexia- so I can read most things children try to spell) I couldn't read it at all- so I asked her to read what she'd written-
You've guessed it- she couldn't !!!!!!
They say Shakespeare never spelt his name the same way twice! The thing is- people have got to be able to understand it. Writing is communication.
