Excuse my stupidity but does anyone know what has happened to Napoli? I am going to Naples in March and wanted to take in a game but they seem to have disappeared. I have checked Serie A, B and C 1 and 2 and can find no trace of them. Their website loads for about a second and then disappears also. Have they moved or been shut down? Did I miss something major in the Italian leagues?  |

Got relegated from Serie A a couple of years back (climax of which is chronicled in Tim Parks' A Season with Verona).
Struggled in Serie B for a while and last I heard were about to go Bankrupt so Serie B booted them out.
Incredible really.

On my honeymoon (or rather our), we were up in the Lake District. Watched Liverpool v Villa in the FA Cup on the Sunday then the first (i think it was the first one) of the 4-3 Liverpool Newcastle matches in a pub in Windermere on the Wednesday night. An excellent honeymoon.

Why don't you go see Salernitana mate? They play in Serie B. Salerno is just a short hop down the coast from Napoli.

Apparently they now play in Serie C1 as 'Napoli Soccer' and still at the Sao Paolo.
They were demoted as they couldnt pay the league fees but have now been bought by Aurelio De Laurentis, a film producer and are playing in front of 60000 at home when the average Serie C crowd is 5000 tops.

There's a high speed rail connection between Rome and Naples, so you could easily get to Roma or Lazio.
I usually stay at Ceprano, halfway between the 2 cities, where a decent hotel is less than £40 per night ;D
