As I write the odds on Band Aid being xmas no. one are 1.37, approx 4/11. Am I being slow or is that a license to print money? Seriously though, am I missing something? I was expecting 1.1 at best

It's been released early, so sales could be tapering off by christmas, someone else's marketing machine could push another big artist into the frame, and, most importantly, it's GOD-AWFUL!!!

When does the X-Factor winner's song come out? That could chase Band Aid if it's out Xmas week. It'll be s**te but a hell of a fan base to buy it.
Really wouldn't be surprised at Band Aid not being there anyway...

Whoever wins the X-factor will be number one in the first week of January I think, this is traditionally a time of a lull in singles sales, as was best represented by Iron Maiden getting to the top with "Bring yer daughter to the Slaughter" some years ago. The pop-loving kiddies don't realise this though, so seeing them go straight to numbder 1 with a debut single will make them look good, and from there the bandwagin rolls on....

Yep, X-factor single comes out after christmas. Only big single yet to come out is Ronan and Cat Stevens' version of father and son. I'm having a wager.
