Hi folks
As you may know, there is going to be an open meeting on 13 December, hosted by the Official Supporters Club, with Keith Sayfritz present, to discuss the proposed supporter's bar in the New Meadow.
A lot of helpful stuff has been posted on a few threads regarding this topic, and we believe it would be useful for B&A to tie this together in a proposal/s that we could put to the club on 13 December.
What we need now is as much information (observations from pubs close to the Gay Meadow, examples of other clubs supporter's bars) on why it is that we need a decent bar at the Meadow, and why it would be good for both fanbase and the club.
Anything you can get, you can either post here, or email through to me at garethhop@yahoo.com
We then propose to have an informal chat/meeting ahead of the Rochdale game in the Telepost club to try and pull it all together. I'll post more on that nearer the time and also on the December 13 date (put it in your diaries - we need as many there as possible!).
Cheers

Is there a way One of the mods on B&A rivals could send a block message to all clubs to find out how big each of their supporters bars are? Especially the Chapionship as that is Wycherleys ambition

I'm disappointed that the directors should need convincing about this. Surely facilities for the fans are what a football ground is all about these days. The trips to the Conference clubs last year were made a bit more bearable by the fact that they had friendly, warm, social clubs for people to meet before and presumably after the match.
As I say, they shouldn't need telling this particularly after all the support they have had from the supporters re the New Meadow.

not knowing the Ottlley road area i've no idea what pubs are close by or if indeed there are any but if there are none or very few this should be a goldmine for us.Let's look at the example from Kidderminster. It's the only time i've ever been there and we got there early-about half past one and i like a beer with the best of them.We asked the local constabulary if there was a pub nearby ,got told no and we eventually got directed to the Kiddy social club.We paid a pound day membership(which i think is fair)only to stand in a queue for about twenty minutes and we moved about six feet!!They had about one or two bar staff on for what must have been about 150 town fans.It was a joke.It was a pretty big room so they could accommodate us easily if they had the staff on.They should have made a packet but because of a lack of planning and staff they missed out big time.If we get a big enough room for ourselves and away fans to have a few beers and maybe something like burgers, chips, hot dogs, sandwhiches, crisps etc.etc we could make loads of money for the club.Would anyone agree with me that it should be for away fans as well??We have away fans in the Crown and in the Telepost so why not at the new meadow??Just my point of view but i think this is a very serious chance to make some much needed cash for our beloved club.Come on Mr.Sayfritz-be positive and give us the room we need to have a beer with our friends of this and all other clubs and show us and them how forward thinking and sociable a club we are, cheers,Cuzz.

The Football Club/The Official Supporter's Club/Brewery Could be any of those. Thoughts?

Ideally It would be great if the Supporters ran a supporters Bar At least then the fans will have a say where the revenue from such a bar can be spent on the Club. You would have to employ a Steward/Stewardess to run the day to day business of the bar and have a Committee to decide the way it should be run.

I totally agree with everything said by CUZZWHITCHURCH in his post. Have TWO bars, Home and Away. With a properly designed layout the bar staff can serve both bars. This could be an absolute goldmine for the club. The local constabulary could monitor the fans if they wished, to watch for the yob element, and avoid them wandering the town centre streets, or annoying local residents, (The fans not the Police!!) AND STFC WOULD TAKE THEIR MONEY FOR FOOD AND DRINK ! As the Board are all businessmen I cannot believe that I cannot see their eyes flashing ££££'s from here ! We need to have 21st century facilities for our club. Please STFC this is an opportunity that cannot pass us by!
