The Mystical One
Another of Shropshire footbaling talents soon to be leaving for a wider learning curve of the world game is Murray James. James a ASFC regular has singed for Thailand team Harungond Tigers for the second half of the 2004/05 season. James gave us his exclusive thoughts on the game and his future in football. “its going to interesting being in the foreign climbs, all rice and giggles” quipped James “but its should provided me with the test I have been craving for all my career, which I have been unable to find in the UK” So will it be a case of James “going through the Motions” come Saturday morning “ no no no, I have probably the best record at the Field of Dreams stadium as far as goal scoring goes out of all playing, and its not a record I want to lose while im away!” We wish James all the best in his last Under 20’s outing

One problem to have come out of the recent stack off odds from the betting world is the influence of far eastern business men such as Ho chi Ghost who have been rumoured to be handing bungs to several high ranking Vets players, the F.A have launched an investigation and the authorities in Hong Kong have been involved
The ASFC influence in the Vets
This year the Vets will be take comfort from the influence of key ASFC players in the squad. The highly experienced Stu Dunn, The respected Pete Downey, the solid but wayward star Carter and Keeper Pilch, will all take to the field amassing a staggering 400 ASFC caps between them. Vets manager Jamo was full of praise for the spine of his team. “Their solid model pros who are involved in the big games week in week out, the pressure will not effect them and when all lose there heads around them I fully expect these boys to right the ship” It was Carter who was first to comment on the pride for playing for the vets “when ever you pull on the Blue and Amber there’s a pride element this is no different” But GK Pilch will yet again anger the FA by not wearing his home teams GK jersey in favour of the “lucky” Herther Berlin shirt “ I don’t see the problem, the FA want to fine me go ahead, I can afford it” commented the star who’s extravagant wages have caused him to become a figure of fun in the local press of late. Dunn will swap the commentary box for the pitch again come Saturday but he says he is much happier out there “you can watch a match and report it back but its not the same as being out there and doing it and winning” Confidence in this group is very high and the under 20’s will have to watch for the hart beat of the Vets taking control.
Groover, Price Carter in Media Gaff
3 player involved in Saturday big game were snapped leaving a nightclub at 2.30 AM very much worse for ware, causing both mangers to rethink there team selection due to the unprofessional nature of the of the acts. In tow of this party of shame were Football Agent to the players fagin, and most bizarrely the ref from the game and brother to Under 20’s player Glyn Price, raising more concerns over his impartiality come Saturday. A friend of the starts told the Slopshire star that the players were being miss managed by there agent and who was getting them to focus more on there media image than matters on the pitch. Problematically for the managers of both Vets and Under 20’s fagin has got his players and the other stars he managers, Murray James and Ant Thomas on another PR exercise on Friday night 12 hours before KO, fans and managers alike will hoping there is no repeat of the discussing actions of Wednesday night!

Come Saturday it will not be just the boys who are battling for the pride of Shropshire a both H and Sophie made the final squad for the under 20’s. H, the more experienced of the 2 after impressing in the B and A game against the Barnabus Center is particularly looking forward to the game “ its my debut and its good to have Sophie there as well as another making a debut for the Under 20’s, we have come through the youth system together and its nice that we get to be there for each others first game at this level” Sophie will have an added pressure in the game as Dad Pilch will be in goal for the opposition “I would love nothing more than to score against him, it would watershed moment in the family where I can stand up and say I have bested you dad, he would not be happy but I have to think of my career not his!!” No matter what happens its good to see the spread of youth football in the women’s game paying dividends in Shropshire and big things are expected of H and Sophie come the weekend
