The Slopshire Star - Wednesday 1st December
Sport
Its T minus 3 days until Shropshires big game and the stories have been flooding into the office over the night form several different sources, one informant only wishing to be know and “the informant” supplies us with 2 late breaking stories!!! We also have more on the Anslow suspension and the appointment of a world-class referee.
Vets Struck by late Fitness Test
Shropshire Star was today informed that Key Player for the vets Andy (Harmerhill Shrew) we require a late late fitness test. It is unclear how the injury has occurred but it’s believed from a reliable source that Andy fell down a Manhole whilst carrying out some farming duties while at work. The fall has lead to “The Hill” taking a bang on the knee and although early indications show that it might only be bruising Vets manager does not want to take any risks “ Andy will visit a specialist in the USA who worked on reconstructing David Busst’s Leg in the Early 90’s and then when he returns we will have a better idea of weather we can risk him playing on or keep him in reserve” The Hill was unavailable for comment as his hand was up a cows ass!!!
Ref for the Big Game.
The Montford Bridge based referee Glyn 'the Whistle' Price continues to rise in the estimation of the majority of football observers, and he was in top form to spot the cheating tendencies of all parties during a recent under 7s game at Harlescott Lane.
Prices angry outbursts and supreme authority make him arguably the most recognisable referee in the world game, outside the superlative figure of Italian whistler Pierluigi Collina.
For Saturdays big game the Shropshire FA have chosen Price as the man in the middle and given 'The Whistle' orders to clamp down from the kick off and not to hold back with the cards.
Speaking after a hard day at the office Price said he was 'over the moon' to be handed the big game in his home county on Saturday as he feared he would be given the lesser KFCvTulip Growers game down the A5.
Vets manager Alan James said, 'I never comment on referees and I'm not going to break the habit of a lifetime for that prat.'

A Reunion Possible!!!!
Rumours abound from the Vets camp that a late signing could see one of the deadliest partnerships from the Shrewsbury Sunday leagues of the 80s could be reformed. Vets manager Alan James was remaining tight lipped over the subject but the fact that Proactive agents have been seen around the Dun Cow and Nags Head in the town suggest this story could have some truth. The rumors have been spreading though Shropshire and one Sunday league officiando commented that “if it comes off, the Under 20’s could be in for one tough afternoon” The slopshire Star will be watching events at the Dun Cow very closely over the next few days.

Anslow Out
As was reported late last night it seems like the up and coming start of B and A football will be sidelined due to “family commitments”. The loss to the game will be large as the talk over the last few weeks was of the improvement in Anslows game and the chance that this game would give him the chance to step up to the big league, alongside such greats as Dunn and Afro. Anslow commented “Im gutted, I feel I could have had a major impact of the game and really got up and at some of the Vets” Anslow was particularly aggrieved at not getting to test Keeper Pilch, who he has enjoyed a love hate relationship over the last few months. “ I would have loved nothing more than to score against that biog oaf, he had it coming but im sure the damage can be done to his reputation by another of the under 20’s starlets!!!” Anslow snarled.
Whitfield the renegade
Its been noted by some that the relation ship between star striker Ian “Whitters” Whitfield and manger Alan James as soured over the last two days. Several recent exchanges between the two have ended in Whitfield being derogatory towards his gaffer and this has led to tensions in the camp. James was also herd in a recent interview to describe the diminutive forward as a “renegade” In the “Colin Cramb mould”. A camp insider told the star, there’s trouble ahead – the pressure on Whitter to score is large and James wants nothing less than a win, and with the recent hostilities I fear it may explode before or during the game”.
A busy Few months
Its been a busy few months for John Molenuix (Afro), culminating in this game against the Vets. In the Summer after impressing in a number of low key TMS vs B and A games the young Shropshire native was snapped up by the new forward looking ASFC manager Gerry “Scousewideboy” Leahy as cover for left back. John take the story up and his rise to fame. “ it started well – I got a early chance for the ASFC and I took it, and I have had a good look in at starting this season even though I have only played about 17 games, the highlight so far was playing at Cambridge on the Astro turf and scoring what star striker Glyn Price described as a wonder goal” Molinux now looks to add the vets to his impressive lift of scalps this season “I don’t like losing and the loss at Kiddy and Hull has kncked me back a bit but I see the vets as a perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways”
