Darby Day
Its that time again for Shropshire football to put its self on the map with yet another massive local darby (or 2) Scat’s pitch’s will place host to not one but two local derbies with more grudge in them than a Celtic Rangers old firm game. The first is the log awaited rematch between Bucks Chat’s Asbo owning Telford Scally’s and the nicely assembled combined Mighty Shrew and B and A Team the “Mighty B and A” . At the same time mere feet away will be “kendricks return” As Ex ASFC play Matt Kendrick makes the 40 mile journey back to his old stomping ground, looking to get the double after home win in September over his old team mates.
The day marks a proud moments for Shrewsbury town supporters football will over 30 players taking part in 2 teams for the first time in 4 years. As every Darby game the storeys and news items have been flooding into the Slopshire Star this week and here just a taste of what’s got the public thinking!!
Bucks Chat – “Mighty B and A” Squads announced
World Wide Exclusive
Shrewsbury –
Ty Marshell, Porky Shrew, Ian Wight, Joey, Ian Whitfield, fagin, MR Newheyshrew, Mark Feilding, Mike (Sutton Shrew) Rob Skipworth, Garath Hopkins, Iain Cormack, Possibley Trenners, and several others at the last minute
Telford RobHughes,Scouse,Catling,Adam,Pess,Grovesy,Dave,Gaz,Lee,Bowya,Mannsy
In what has been described as the “most costly TUFC squad ever assembled” by the media Telford will enter the game as the favourites but there’s no doubt the peoples champions Shrewsbury will be well supported and back by the public in general.
Bucks Chat – “Mighty B and A” Squads announced
In an interesting turn of even from one year ago, The Mighty B and A’s only player to make the Squad for the UEFA Fans cup in Barcelona was fagin. This time last year football was far from his mind as a nightmare Knee injury put him out of the game for 6 months. “I though it was all over for my career” Said a reflective fagin “But I have been working on my fitness and I see this game as another step on the road to recovery and the plane to Barcelona” As well as injury “faginy” as the fans have dubbed him has also been plagued with a series of high profile drinking problems which have also helped to hamper his career!! faginy would only comment amusingly “ well at least I got the Stella sponsorship deal out of it”. One things for sure this game marks the next step back for the mercurial midfielder!
The Grudge
Its clear that this will be a game (hopefully) full of hatred!! The last time these 2 teams clashed Rob Skipworth and Scouse were involved in several verbal bust ups and the tension has been growing over the presiding few months. Behaviour expert keyser soze was herd to comment when interviewed last night “ the game will be very interesting and I can see fights, Skipworth will in all likely hood be “hunted” as soon as the game starts” Rob himself who is most comparable to a really annoying Robbie Savage laughed it off “Well not saying the telford boys are unfit but to get me they have to catch me and that’s not going to happen!!” With the volatile Murray James removed from the fray this time with a call up to the ASFC its hoped that this game might pass with less incident that the last one.
Reffing hell
Two games require two reffs and unfortunately they will be off differing standards. Excellent Martin James will be on attendance for the Bucks Chat vs Shrewsbury game and will in all likely hood maintain his high standards from previous weeks. The ASFC therefor this week will have to make to with continual moaning bad backed some time keeper Ian Pritchard. With members of the ASFC already complaining about the appointment, it will be interesting to see ifthe card happy railway worker can maintain control over the passion that the ASFC show.
Quite Build up
ASFC manager Gerry Leahy was delighty about the outing for what he regards a future source for fresh legs in the Mighty Blue and amber team. "im very happy not only do we get the benifit of a quite week of build up it will be intresting to see how future and ex ASFC players get on."
Heartbeat of the team
No team can be successful with out born winners and consistent performers, and the Mighty B and A are blessed with four. Hopkins, Cormack, Whitfiled and Wrighty have now amassed a staggering 100 Blue and Amber caps between them and have always performed to the highest standards. With changing commitments Cormack had to take a step down from the ASFC but has proved to have been a revelation in defence in recent games for Blue and Amber. Hopkins tendencies to dive has provoked outrage sometimes but this tidy forward is in there working hard for the team. Wrighty and Whitters form a formidable duo and have generally been on the winning end more times that not. It would be in Bucks chat best interest to keep these 4 players quite in the game
Back in the sticks
The Shrewsbury team will be testing a new approach to goal keeping by giving both keepers 45 mins out field. Ex ASFC keeper TY will start in goal and will swap with Mark Fielding. Ty him self has been forging a decent career in midfield and has a prized ASFC goal to his name with a sweet strike at Tranmere. Unfortunately the press does not to much about Fielding but members of the Mighty Shrew Message board describe him as “useful” and a “good motivator”. Weather this tactic pays off remains to be seen.
