I haven't mentioned it before, because it was so long ago- a long time before Gary Peters was there- but our next door neighbour's son once played for Preston North End.
I can't think how long ago it would be. I do remember when our girls were in their teens, and some of their friends wanted to come and visit and hoped they'd see him- but I don't think he really did much.
He gave up playing and opened a Sports Shop at The Albert Dock in Liverpool. Now, he doesn't do that, either- I'm not sure what he does. He's married with two children.
I suppose I could go on Preston North End's website- but it would be archive stuff- about mid-to-late1980s,I think- and if he never did much, he's not likely to be on the website.
His name is Martin James.
I suppose I could ask his mother, but we don't see her much- she just comes and asks if we'll watch the house while she's away- she's always babysitting grandchildren. I get the impression that she possibly wouldn't even know what position he played!!

Spoke to my brothers in law last night Wiggy who are PNE fans and do remember him from the early nineties. He used to score a few apparently, but played in the era when they had that plastic pitch at Deepdale, so they weren't really sure how good or bad he was, as that pitch neutralised talent quite well ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I might try and have a chat to him myself when he visits his mum- which is quite often, but he always looks hassled with kids, prams..etc...!!!! He started by playing for St Helens Town, as a boy. Tha's a team you never even hear about!!!
