I would probably vote tactically in Shrewsbury to try to keep the Tories out... not sure in Shrews which would be best Lib or Lab...

Conservative, because their policies of social justice and social inclusion, combined with sensible policies on health, education and crime make me feel the country really would be safe in Michael Howards hands. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1258782/images/pqnQOqOSibedLgQPAcub.png)

Last election we had down here (think it was the Welsh assembly) I decided I'd only vote for people who actually knocked on my door to ask me how I felt about stuff as long as it wasn't the BNP.
I ended up being 1 of about 100 people who voted for the Socialist Party because he was the ONLY one who knocked on my door in person and asked me to vote for him. It's shoo-in Labour around here so I'll probably vote Plaid or Green as a protest in the GE.

To be fair, I dont really know what p**ses me off most, no one bothering to try and get my vote, or knowing that they couldnt give a toss about me for most of the year except when they do want my vote.

Last but one election I voted for the Referendum Party - as their candidate was the only one who actually lived in the constituency!! ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) can you blame em? ![;)](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/winking/winking0070.gif)

All three of the local candidates are making tits of themselves, as far as I can see. I will vote for Ion, but have no confidence in him at all, as his campaign seems to centre around motorway signposts outside the county. Local politics is so depressingly small-minded.

It has to be Labour
The Tory leaflets say it is between them and the Lib Dems to win Shrewsbury
that means with 100% certainty they are scared of Labour
in Shrewsbury last time what we had were two right wing parties taking votes off the tories, the countryside lot, referendum and independence parties
This time those usual tory voters will be back
the defection fo Paul Marsden confuses the issue as well but the bottom line is that it is still Labour vs Tories

In the past the anti Tory vote was always split evenily between Lab and Lib Dem. The last two elections have shown that if you dont want Tory in Salop you need to vote Labour. My local Tory MP is Micheal Fabric*** ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1258782/images/pqnQOqOSibedLgQPAcub.png) . He's the bloke with the obvious blond wig on!

Well, I'd eliminate UKIP and BNP as being much, much too rabid in their views, and the Tories as only slightly watered down more of the same. Xenophobes, the lot of them. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) What of Labour? If only they wouldn't keep invading countries illegally and for no sound reason, except that that nice Mr Bush has commanded it. If only, also, they wouldn't be so racist with their asylum policy of sending hundreds of black-skinned people back to certain torture and death in the countries (e.g. Zimbabwe, Nigeria) from which they fled for their lives. And if they weren't so wedded to the principle of lining the pockets of big business, with such as Private Finance Initiative (which delivers lower quality products like hospitals, schools and roads at much, much higher cost) And student fees, and endless attacks on pensions, and fatuous but dangerous diversions like national id cards, and privatising everything (e.g. London Underground), and taking bloody ages to almost get around to banning hunting with dogs, and not re-nationalising things (e.g. railways) that a child of 5 could see would be better off under single coordination, and unfair "free" world trade (guaranteed to keep the poor poor), and ..., and ... The list is almost endless! Respect (Socialists) talk a lot of sense for me. Apart from anything else, they're not in the pay of business, so their policies and initiatives would not be tarnished by vested interests. They see things from the point of view of ordinary people and the environment, not the privileged few. Failing Respect, I'll have the choice of Plaid Cymru - mostly very sound socialism and environmental, except for the barking mad few single-issue people (language issue!). Not an option for those of you living to the East of Offa's Dyke. Lib Dems might be OK, if only to start a move towards a fair voting system in future. I'm really fed up with parties getting in with massive majorities when the majority of those who voted at all had voted against them.

Im a strong believer in using your vote, in fact i think it should be made compulsary. However, this next election is going to be a difficult choice. The Labour Party seem to have lost a lot of their socialist values infact they are nearly a Conservative Party. I would never vote Tory after the Thatcher and Major years and their total destruction of Trade union powers and don't forget the bloody Poll tax.
So that leaves the Liberals as the next contender in my decision, probally more sociaalist now than the labour party, but not strong enough to win an election.
I can't make up my mind yet, lets wait for all the manifesto's to be distributed.
Probally labour though, even though im no longer a member I can't see there being an alternative.

I can't vote in the States, and I can't vote in UK Elections either. ![:(](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/mad/mad0177.gif) Not having the opportunity to cast a ballot for over a decade, I would urge everyone to play an active role in the functioning of our democracy - no matter who you vote for, or why, Just Vote ![:-*](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/love/love0051.gif) If I could vote - it wouldn't be for the Tory in the Ludlow constituency, it would be one of the other big 2

It does make a difference who gets into government. They make decisions which impact on your everyday life. For example, see the current proposals on licensing laws - I presume you don't drink then faginy?

As Im registered to vote in North Shropshire.
I'd speak to my dad and receive the sp on the various parties and current local issues.
As much as I dislike the Torries I do think Owen Patterson is doing a good job as a local MP and he certanly does take up a fair few local issues.

OK here goes- I'll be voting Conservative ![:o](http://www.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile/scared/scared0015.gif) Despite Daniel K being on a 2 year mission to kiss as much butt as possible, ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) which politician does any different? I've had enough of Labour making empty promises and although I'm sure the Tories wont come up with everything they promise I still think they can't do any worse than Blair. I trust Howard more than him.
