Far worse than what Mutu was doing. Mutu was only endangering his own wellbeing (and the happiness of his family). To actaully be drunk and get in a car, well you're a moving missile..... Mutu gets sacked, well so should Gudjohnson if we're going to apply the same rules...oh but i just remembered Gudjohnson is vital to their season...

I can see Chelsea will taking the stance that Mutu's 'hobby' was directly affecting his footballing ability whereas having a drink is not so damaging to your palying career.
I'm not trying to defend Gudjohnson here at all, drink driving is possibly the single most stupid thing you can do

I hope somewhere that one of these top footballers is sacked for drink driving, seems that it happens quite a few times yet somehow they all seem to escape punishment

"Not bad all in all" utter garbage. It is proven without doubt that even a small amount of alcohol impairs your ability to drive. If you were a relative or friend of one of the thousands of victims of this hidious crime then perhaps you would take a different stance. It is not acceptable for any member of society to behave in this way but is even worse when a young multi millionaire who could easliy afford taxi's or even a chaffeur treat this matter with distain.

So you would sack anyone who has drunk drove and been caught?? had he killed some one then year he should have everything thrown at him but i personally dont feel that this offence is bad enough to ruin someones life over?? he will lose his licence and be fined with in the letter of the law whichnis being apllyed here. Sorted!

sorry pricey but I think ur comments are wrong.
how can u even compare to driving one handed, smoking, changing cd player whilst driving to having some beers and going behind the wheel ?
i do some pretty silly things but i would perfer to have the social stigma and have the micky taken out of me for years to come if I shagged an underage girl rather than the personal guilt of getting behind the wheel of a car when under the influence regardless of if I got caught or not
hope chelsea do him like they did mutu - thats assuming his is gulity

But thats what this place is all about!!

I havn't advocated that Chelsea sack anyone pricey.
I was merely pointing out that your post reflects the opinion that drink driving is somehow not a serious crime and that anyone caught doing it is slightly unlucky. Too many people within our society appear to share this view.
They are wrong and you are wrong. Drink driving is a crimainal act that causes death and despair around this country and deserves to be taken seriously by the courts.

So what we arguing about - i was just trying to make the point that unless he goes to jail which is unlikely for a first offence then he should not be sacked But he should be punished by the law to the full extent of which is deemed acceptable

Alright, i'll let you off this time. I thought it was another of your aimless rants.
I agree that in this instance dismissal would be extremely harsh as he needs to be treated in the same way as other members of the public . He dosn't need his licence to perform his job so a decent ban and some community stuff should suffice

Many years ago it was socially acceptable to be done drink driving and i know for certain that some police even turned a blind eye to it, over the years it has become unacceptable, but i am no hypocrite, i have done it, but would like to say that i will never do it again and i have been very lucky not to a, been caught and b, never hurt anyone. However a footballer does not need a driving licence to perform his job there froe i doubt where it will say in his job description that he needs a clean driving license, so can anyone offer any resonable reason why any footballer should be sacked for being done for drink driving. it is also so refreshing to see so many people on here that are holier than thou, and obviously have never done anything stupid or made a mistake in there lives before.

Who is being holier than thou Paul? I think you're missing the whole point to be honest.
