totally agree
id go further - at stoke town fans were out sung by aldershot
there is no unity between fans - not slagging off individuals or pockets of people but as a togetherness, well it could be better lets say !

Yes I agree too, but at Stoke The Shots unity come three fold....we have never had and I hope will never will a club fold on us before...their Town has got behind them to get them where they are and secondly "two drums" and finally apache

Agree to a certain extent.
I did notice against orient that we where 4 nil up and we should all have been on top of the world, really giving the lads a cheer or two, but loads of people where leaving.
However, did the club say not long ago that a drum would not be let in?

does this then mean that, because we dont sing loud enough for the great gp he will not sign a contract and be off at the end of the season... if not then why make a fuss about it??? Get on with your job gary, dont worry about us we can do that ourselfs

at the end of the day pete, you know that if he signed his contract tomorrow he could still leave at the end of the season.
they mean nothing, so whats the point?

football to me is theatre
a good gig is one where u feel the energy, the vibe, a certain spirit with the band connecting to the audience
i utterly agree with gary - a team with a good fan base - west ham, sunderland, celtic etc.. their fans go crazy regardless of the result
we need a more carnival party atmosphere down the meadow

Matt the carnaval atmos will come with success, stuff that town fans have not seen over the past decade,
When gp does his job on the pitch i'm fairly sure we will do ours off it,
That is all i'm saying, i cant see what his fixation is about us the PAYING public

To be fair morpheus he were asked a question by a supporter and he's given his opinion... I've always thought we've suffered cos of the ground, having the Riverside as the base for the most vocal support has never helped...shame we don't have the Station End as the home 'end'...the away supporters seem to get a decent atmos even when there's not too many of em... I think (and I know a fair few dont agree) that things will improve at the new ground...

I found it really odd that when we were 4-0 up last week there were streams of people leaving early A few dozen catching buses or needing to beat the crowds I understand but not hundreds when your 4 up!

over the past few weeks this topic has come up loads, There is about a 70/30 split on this board back em to the hilt whatever till the end of the season or shout what I like till they (well what win every game) play the way we think they should.
This split wouldnt be so bad if it carried on in the ground, but it doesn't. Some people are positive and some arn't fact, still can't see how shouting ffing rubbish, or booing our defenders passing the ball between themselves stirs any passion in a player, but I wouldn't as I'm a positive sort of person.

i think GP has given a very good answer and very true imo, but i fear there are too many people who prefer to go to the meadow and moan all game than get behind the lads.... i hope im wrong
i dont mind people moanin during the week chatting or on message boards, but people who do it constantly at matches should just stay home imo. but of course i will annoy some people with what im saying here so i dont really care

I agree Matt, arent sunderland supporters wonderfull?!
Since things began to go wrong they've gone from 48,000 a week now down to an average of 27000 a week. Has there been a famine? Maybe a bomb dropped on sunderland? Because it looks like they've lost 20,000 fans....
Oh and West Ham, those loveable cockneys who boo the team and chant for their managers head reguardless of the score and the result...
Shrewsbury fans may not make much noise (hard to in a ground like Gay Meadow) and they may occassionally grumble, however what us shropshire folk are good at is waiting, we wait and we wait and we wait, and still the good times don't come.
How many other sets of supporters would have waited untill the team was mathamatically relegated before chanting for the managers head?!
He may be a good manager, a great motivator blahblahblah, but what he needs to realise is that us shropshire folk are a bit more laid back, tend to live life a bit more slowly, these are rural countryside characteristics and they arent suddenly going to change over the space of a season.
As for Stoke, very tense occassion, Aldershot had nothing to lose, we on the other hand had everything to lose, oh and we were spread out over 2/3rds of the ground as opposed to being predominantly based in one stand behind the goal....

Ask him to his face why he needs the fans to back the players and not the opposition, he will talk to you..

Shut it Peters. Give us survival and THEN we'll turn up the volume. He wants the volume to help us to survive. I was pleased at the Orient game after he'd called for fans to put pressure on the referee that a lot of fans did that. I noticed a couple of dubious decisions went our way in the second half. I don't know if that would have happened anyway, but the stick some were giving the ref can't have done any harm. He's in charge now. He's asked us to help the team, our team, so lets get shouting. I presume drums are now allowed too.

How is it going to help him to help us fix OUR club

trouble is, how many of the 3,500 or so who go to the game and are the people that GP is referring to will read that article on Shrewsweb??

Im not trying to punsih him.
But firstly to be able to solve the problem you have to look at all aspects that have gone wrong in the past, and to a certain extent JQ did this well when he first came in.
And unfortunatly for GP he has walked into a club that have been on a downward slide for the best part of 20 years. And where the supporters have been shat on from time to time (look no further than last tuesday).
It is little wonder, that people are cyinical, that they grumble quickly.
GP wants the supporters to do this that and 'other, yet it is a two way thing, many supporters are scared, they need to be shown evidence that the club is healing/recovering etc...

i am caught on this one, and to some extent i agree we do need more noise and support from the fans.
but this is about the third time he has raised the issue, ok once twice not sure third time what the issue.
i think most fans have got the message, just wonder at times if he is deflecting attention.
