The little town on the hill is broadbanded as of this week.
Who to choose as a provider?
I'm not a heavy user of the internet from home - apart from this m/board quite obviously. I don't do alot of downloading although I can need to send quite heavy-weight pdfs occassionally.
cheers.

I have had BT for 15 months and have to say it is very good. They have a range of packages to suit, (which as your girls get older and start downloading music/films ect) you can change No doubt others will have an opinion. JP is always good on these sort of threads.

Got Wanado 1Mbps service 17.99, no complaints so far, it's damn quick compared to dial up , and the misses doesn't moan about not being able to use the phone

ECLIPSE INTERNET is fantastic, they have an option that you can FLEX your broadband speed when you want... ie if you have 500k connection you can increase the speed upto 2MB simply by clicking a button on their website, the speed is increased straight away and its very cheap, something like 9p per hour , its great for fast downloads and high bandwidth gaming.
Had BT for several years but would say ECLIPSE is 1000% better in every respect, the customer support is great and they had me online within 7 days from making the initial order

Just in the process of getting eclipse now. Enormous set-up cost, but ideal setup thereafter

I found BT's Customer Service superb and how good is it to have free phone number if there's a problem

Another one with Wanado, and only one problem in four years of it in whatever incarnation.

Look out for the small print, ie. download limits, ECLIPSE Internet doesnt have any, screw BT, get with a company that cares about its customers.
BT's Customer services are appalling, i spent over 3 hours on the phone in December trying to cancel my Business broadband service due to a house move, no one knew what they were doing and i was constantly diverted to different departments, the most infuriating aspect of it was that i had to explain from scratch what i wanted everytime i spoke to somebody new.
Another plus point of Eclipse Broadband is that the contract is monthly, so if a better deal somewhere else comes up i dont have top wait 12 months to switch.

Yep,. but isn't the connection fee something like £80. eclipse does have it's cons as well. Still getting it, mind, I like the switching aspect.
