tonight as most of you know town fans voted for the setting up of the trust. i must say though that the highlight of the evening was Daves speach it brought many of us close to tears and really encapsulated why a trust must be set up. well done all those who have worked on the trust so far

I had to leave early. I was feeling really rough, and had a high temperature. I almost didn't come at all.

I'd say about 120-140 there, so not too bad. Some good but also some pretty evasive answers by Mr Sayfritz, the highlghts of the evening were - a very informative speech by the lady from the Supporters Trust a very well presented piece on the financial aspect of football by Edgeley Shrew (Hugh) and a fantastic speech by TBH, rousing stuff and very emotional, personal and also entirely justifiying the need for this trust. Well done sir

well attended and a unanamous vote in favour. plus it showed how much work has already taken place to get the trust going. was very well set up and presented. also showed without a doubt that the club could benefit big time from having a trust set up.

I'm interested in why and how Scott Howie was involved, does anyone know?

Interested in why and how Scott Howie was involved? He drew the raffle He also answered a few questions from Dunny about what he thought it would do for the club to have the supporters trust set up. I know you shouldn't stereotype footballers ;D ;D ;D but I must say he was a very eloquent speaker and made it clear that it's the best thing for the club to follow this route..................

Both would be interested in who was there, rather than what was said, also having a trust would mean the dealings with the club would be known by more people than they would like

I managed to make Scott Howie double up with laughter when I related back to him a story he told ant on a train journey - but mum's the word.
he's a scruffy barsteward though.
Three main areas:
1. hugh's presentation. 2. Keith's comments to the effect that the board were OK about it. 3. Dave's speech.
I thought people sat up and really started to take notice from Hugh's presentation onwards.

Just to clear up, it was Hugh Dennis (Mortgagehound) who spoke not EdgelyShrew Over 100 there, 100% support for the Trust. A pretty special night. Scott was invited (as were all the players) and spoke fantastically. We are lucky to have him here for so very many reasons. The hard work begins now to take this club forward

he's a scruffy barsteward though. he saved three in a row to get us back in the league. when it comes to the ladies of salop, he shouldn't have to even try

Have to agree...
An excellent night Everyone's extremely hard work to-date was clear for all to see. Being reminded of just how many skills are lurking on the terraces was inspiring. Hearing tales from other clubs made me count our blessings - and we have many.
The Trust clearly has massive potential. So now we just need to make it happen. Selling it to the 3-4K who go through the turnstiles is key to that, so we have to hope we can spread some of tonights enthusiasm and resolve.
Well done to all those who have done so much to get us this far.

he's a scruffy barsteward though He always looks like he needs a comb putting through his hair, his boots are always dirty, and his Merc looks black not silver/grey lately driving through Wellington. Top marks for speaking out tonight though.

I know of at least 3 who didn't come but had intended to. Two of them unwell at the last minute. And there will also be some who decided to watch the England game. I know where I would rather have been and it wasn't watching what apparently was one of the most boring matches ever.
I suspect also that some people couldn't be out for two evenings running after going to Bury. However, I suspect that we voted the right way for them anyway.

And a mention for Ryan - who had the hardest job of the night because he had to stand up and speak first and thereby set the tone of the meeting.

It will grow, Jeevsey i'm sure will have had plenty of e-mails of support, now a start has been made, people offer support in different ways, meetings are not for everyone, the trust will not be born out of the number of people who turn up at a meeting, more will come on board if the trust is open armed to all, how ever little or how much they can contribute.

Agree. Was actually a pretty good attendance given a) public meetings in general are on the wane, b) a meeting for people keen on football on a night when there's an England game is a challenge (though maybe not next time by all accounts of the match!) c) the previous night 500+ had gone all the way to Bury and d) above all, we are a relatively healthy club - I can name loads of people who would have been there tonight if it had been the sort of 'save the club' crisis meeting that has led to so many of the other trusts around the country getting formed. A small issue is that there were a very large number of chairs already put out, so that served to make a good turnout look smaller than it was. A Trust is an abstract thing to many. Once we start making it tangible and show its relevance numbers will swell.

I was satisfied with the number attending (I hoped for 150-200 before I knew the football was on!) and it was a good turnout for a club 'not in crisis' and was double that of the Cheltenham one last week.
More impressive was the number of people who came forward to offer their help for the working group and also for the money raised for the raffle.
It was a truly excellent night and my thanks to all involved so far. The next steps now (so we're all aware) is that a working group will register the Trust as a legal entity, develop a constitution and plan a 'Launch' event at which point we are all able to join the newly formed Shrewsbury Town Supporters Trust.
How exciting is that?!!

Would have been there but have developed a stinking cold today Glad it went well. Being involved in the Umbrella groups there are so much that the fans can offer the Club in all aspects. We just need to get organised and set up effective communication between us. Cant beleive Nutting showed his face after the games SABC have been playing with the Club re: New Meadow. Should have been chucked out before he left

we've come so far in so little time. about 8 weeks ago we had an idea that Feb 9th would be a good date for an Open Meeting. Today was awesome. Everything about it went perfectly. best three moments IMHO were: 1. Dave's speech 2. the YES Vote 3. plimmer/hugh's/ians presentation. top dollar

It was a good night A unanimous mandate from the open meeting is fine by me The DVD was my highlight, man that looked good, the woman from supporters direct said no other trust had ever had a video message, awesome the presentation did hit the nail on the head, good figures from Hugh, it really made the point In my speech i just wanted to say what we all think, I am tired of some loser with 800 votes on the radio telling me the football club is not important you come here and meet my friends and i'll show you how important it is to people there's a lot of gifted people standing on those terraces and if we can pool that passion and use those skills we can achieve things bigger than we can even imagine.
