19 Chester 31 -16 34 20 Notts County 30 -12 32 21 Shrewsbury 31 -9 31 22 Rushden & D'monds 31 -17 28 23 Kidderminster 31 -34 24 24 Cambridge Utd 31 -17 21
Our defence looks tight, which is a big advantage
We are not in bad shape, and with Kiddy, Chester, Cambridge and Notts County to come at home we really have to do the job.
Those 4 games will be the difference between staying up and getting relegated.
We have to stay behind the team and make Gay Meadow a harder place for teams to play

Agree with TBH (rarity)
and I can't see Kiddy getting seven points more then us in the run in.
no time for complacency though. If we could win half our remainign games we'll finish mid table!

The defence seems failry sound but real problem comes once we go behind. We haven't scored in over 40% of our league games this season & until last sat we'd not won when the opposition score. As over the last few years we rarely come back against team when we fall behind.

We've taken 16pts from the 14 games we've played under GP - with a bit of luck in the drawn games where we haven't taken our chances, it could easily be 20+ IMO.
The remaining matches seem to be pretty much split between home matches against teams in the bottom half and away matches against team in the top half.
Also, there are 4 teams left that we could do the double over - can anyone name them ?

Shouldn't be too hard to work out. However realistically it can only be Kiddi as we're not aloud to win away from home (the FA rule or sumthin)

I fully expect us to be safe one or two games before that at least. I wouldnt like to say who I think will "for sure" go down....but cambridge and Rushden would be my guess

If we're relying on the last game then we'll be in serious trouble. If we can't win our important home games, then what chance will we have at a packed vetch with them possibly needing to win for Championship??? Win our home games and we can safely wear white undies at the vetch, simple as ('simple' unfortunately is not in the Shrewsbury Book of English Dictionary)

If we do as well as, or better than, Kidderminster and Cambridge in the next 14 games, we will be safe with 2 to play.
That's the challenge.

Said a while ago that 5 wins would put us pretty much in the clear. Unfortunately we've only won 1 so far but still feel that another 4 wins (with the odd draw here and there taken for granted) we will be safe enough a game or two before the seasons end.
Still worried about the lack of goalscoring tho.

I've said it before and I'll say it again!
Let's keep ALL the negativity away from the Meadow from now on.
Any moaning- private.
A lady from Meole Brace, (Who's very positive and an inspiration to me) her Mum, my grandaughter and I did our level best to get some singing going in The Wakeman stand, last Saturday. We'd discussed it by text beforehand!!!
My granddaughter, Leah also had a flag- we hoisted it every time they scored.
We shouted encouragement.
The thing is- the first part of the game is nervy- it's before they've settled- and before the atmosphere hots up to carry them along on a wave of enthusiasm.
It's a time when nerves are taut. This is a time when mistakes are most likely to be made. People yelling abuse at that stage is NOT helpful.
Another nervy time- IF the oppopsition scores first and our lads are chasing the game. Again- support is crucial! They need to keep their nerve.
When they're getting more tired. They need encouragement. They are NOT robots- they are human and, like all of us, they are more likely to want to do their best for a warm, appreciative crowd of supporters, than for coldly critical moaners.
Yes- they get paid- but so are a lot of us paid for our work- and how do we feel about moaners?!!!
I think G.P. is handling any need to improve. We can leave that part in his capable hands and so what supporters do- SUPPORT!!!!
We need singing and encouragement from the moment they appear.
If someone makes a mistake, what's more effective - to yell abuse at the lad or to say, "Keep your nerve, lad- you can do it!!"
We need to psych them up. That song gets naughty but I loved the sentiment- "You can beat them, you can beat them, you can beat this sh**** of ****!!!!!"
The Wakeman Women have spoken. They refuse to follow the Wakeman moaning tradition!!! They will not be silent!!!!

Will be there for Kiddy, have a visitor from the carpet-loving side of Tenbury down for a few pints previous. Wigs, hope you haven't been teaching the grand-chiddlings some of the "Riverside's Greatest Hits"
