I bought an mp3 player for Amy, before anyone starts, it was ages ago when iactually had some money...
Anyhow it arrived yesterday.
Plugged the fecker into one of my usb ports and nothing happened.
It is compatible with XP (so it says) and it does work (well it lights up when you put a battery in it etc..) however my computer, and my two housemates computers didnt even acknowledge the bloody thing when it was plugged in.
I thought it might be the usb ports, however my mouse works and mp3 player (which is made by the same company) work in them.
I only ask because if i send it back and they claim it works, then i'm going to be lumbered with £25 costs.
Is there anything I can do, or is the thing feckered???
cheers

Did you get a CD with it?
What make is it?
And are you sure it doesn't appear as a "Removable drive" in My Computer?
End of questions.

The Mp3 player is probably fhucked then, either that or the lead. XP is generally very good at picking USB things up and if you've tried it on other computers it would suggest the player itself needs looking at.

If your taking it back I would recommend getting a Firewire device (if you have the ports on your PC) to a USB one as the transfer rates are so much faster.
