I'm sure Chris has a stressful enough job as it is. I hope he doesn't have many irate customers this evening. In fairness is Smith not to blame partially as well by not double checking things Im guessing he must have read the posters and programm stuff about it and therefore might have though "would it not be a good idea to check whats going on here rather than just ponder on like it’s a normal week of away travel??? just a though?

We don't know the full SP on this, but I would guess Chris Smith has been acting on the information that he has been given by the club. I will be very surprised if he can be held accountable in any way.

When was the story put up on Shrewsweb - anyone? At least Sat/Sunday, as I only started making plans after reading it. In the end, I decided to make my own way over, lucky me! Please also note Mr P, that Ian has been singing it up quite clearly here all week, so it is clear that at least one end of things has gone t*ts up, either the PR, or Chris Smith is wrong/misinformed. And seeing as STFC have now clearly advertised this deal, their could be trouble ahead due to non-supply of goods or services as promoted...

i talked to chris, he said that the offer of travel would be free to affiliated supporters, this he assured me he told the club, however the posters website etc, even when i phoned the club assured me that the coaches were free to all, so we booked, however the young lady who told me the news today said that chris`s assistant when taking the bookings informed everyone that the seats were restricted, either he did not tell us, or we did not hear, whatever the man must have walked past posters advertising the coach travel, perhaps the ambiguity could have been pointed out, whatever looks like we have to pay, nevermind, sh*thappens

poor weak management colin poole is a solicitor - there is no way he can argue this one out ! OK he went to the league and did the business, but obviously NO communication since - again Jenna doing a sincerely wonderful job answering the phones as others hide hoping it will go away. Graham meanwhile wondering around trying to remember what the attendance was the last time he was at gigg lane. only at Shrewsbury Town

Also does that mean that Smith has not taked to the club since prior to Saturday???

No, they'll be fine because it says normal travel club rules apply. And they've got a good solicitor

Still a mess and thats what I hate. Great opportunity and we fook up, then we wonder why the fan base is as it is.
Never mind, we'll keep working forward, but maybe you can understand why we need as many of you at the Lord Hill 2row.

I got the impression when I read it that meant no booze on the coaches etc...nowt to do with the price or anything... Well, as always, "subject to availability" clauses are no doubt cited, but it still looks very very poor. The Club will however have done itself the severe damage of "lying" to it's fanbase. Whether or not it was intended, average Joe "STFC fan" Bloggs who doesn't read this board will assume that's the case, as he gets turfed off the bus for refusing to pay for a free trip....

To be honest it should have been cleared up by now but the directors work during the day and so are unable to clear up the confusion Aren't we paying a full time chief exec to do something? ?? Surely this is somehting Wingrove should have got involved in - if not what IS he doing?

Another great impression to give to Gary Peters and to encourage him to stay........
Bet no Town employee ever asks for their leaving party at a brewery.......
