When was the last ROAR when someone went down the wing, the ball cross, missed goal then the crowd actually cheer and applaud to full volume..? ? Vs Wycombe when Sam Aiston broke with the ball in the first attack after the second disallowed goal.

just that a lot people on this thread said gp was wrong to question those people who left early..
4-0 with a few minutes left you'd think there was entertainment and excitment enough for people to hang around and give the lads a little clap at the end?

I moved around to the exit early (first time ever) so i could get away and see all of the rugby but i still stay untill the end and they still got a clap Whats the problem

The game was over, and there was an england rugby international about to start

Very few people actually leave early as a rule - but they do move around the terracing to in front of the Wakeman School. So Gary Peters realy wasn't making a valid point.

All the fans on the terrace enter from the same area and leave from the same area, perhaps when the NM is complete the same people "might" leave even earlier to get out the proposed one exit but it wont be so noticable as they won't have to make a long walk along the terracing to the exit.

Hundreds of people wander round then wait for the whistle on the Wakeman every week. It's deceptive, as the other guy said, because there is only one exit, so everyone wants to be near it for the whistle.

I left 1 min into injury time and a few people were leaving. Not many to be honest and those that did had smiles on their faces and are likely to come back and stump up another 12 or 14 quid in a couple of weeks. Fair enough I think. No different to anywhere else.

Two points really:
1. People move round to the Wakeman end at the end of the game because it is the only exit from the terraces. Because of the single exit if you wait on the riverside till the final whistle it takes, say, 10 minutes to get out. It's the perfect example of the limitations (and potential safety problems) associated with Gay Meadow.
2. If you are on the pitch or in the dug out all you can see is lots of people moving round towards the exit and the only conclusion to draw is that they are leaving early.

I remember when the old man used to drive us in to the football. We always stayed until the final whistle and then spent 30 minutes trying to get out of Abbey Foregate car park. Perhaps the people who slope off a couple of minutes early do so to avoid the nightmareish traffic situation around the ground?
I'm lucky in that I use the bus so am never in much of a rush. I have only ever left a game early once and missed Walsall score an injury time goal past us.

Indeed, I always regret staying on the riverside untill the final whistle as it inevitably means having to wait 10+ minutes to get out of the ground (bad enough when we've won/drawn, even worse when we've lost)
Thus we normally had round to the wakeman end with about 5 minutes to go, start by standing behind the goal and then edge our way to the gate (but dont actually leave untill the final whistle).

I cannot understand why anyone should justify their reasons for leaving the ground early Some go, most stay. Best get your stick out to beat them back in Whitters

As Gary Peters says if you left the ground with a few minutes to go when Man Utd were in the European Cup Final last you would have missed them winning it. ;D
