Am I missing something?
The furore caused by Adrian Mutu's poor choice of leisure interest was incredible with all number of sources willing to hang the guy.
Pennant on the other hand has been done twice in a year for drink driving, the second time he was ininsured and disqualified.
Permanent ban from football and every Premiership club calling for his sacking I expect?

I think its always been the same in football
Drugs = Very Bad
Drink - ok
Cant belive that Bruse took the gamble on him (he had a great debut by all accounts though)
If he is to be punished it will be in the courts and he mmight end up in jail!

Exactly. I was thinking this myself the other day. Mutu was done for recreational drug use, not trying to cheat. He wasn't driving and being dangerous to other people, just himself. Pennant could have killed someone and then they would have reacted. But he didn't, so they won't. e.g. Lee Hughes.

Both of Bruce's deadline day signings smack of absolute desperation, as does the attempt to sign Bellamy. He seems to think they're in deep trouble, and I really hope he's right

Bit of a difference in profile between the two players though. Mutu is a big name and signed for big money and got caught doing something not many others have done. Pennant on the other hand is a no-mark Arsenal reserve who's done something far more footballers have done.
End of.

End of. still Pennant has a high profile because he is a Gooner, and due to the massive fee they paid for him as a teenager. He's not been shy to get into trouble, I doubt very much if he has a future at Arsenal.

Interesting to see how this works out.
Any other young man involved in a crash whilst driving while disqualified would certainly be given a custodial sentence. Expect some hugely expensive barrister to plead all kinds of mitigating circumstances.
Another thing to consider is the new government initiative launched this very week aimed at exactly this type of offence.
I personally wouldn't be booking any summer holiday's just yet if i was young Mr Pennant.

Strange to think this lad once helped B&A out with an April Fool's effort... Silly lad though, and he'll be very lucky not to get sent down.

Wasn't Pennant the highest profile teenager before Rooney . Arsenal paid some good money for a 16 year old £1M +
You would think Arsenal players would learn , Adams , Merson etc...

Hahaha! My post got deleted.
Pointing out anti-white racism and double-standards is no doubt racist in itself.

standards of society
Id perfer a nice big spliff rather than a pack of silk cut any day of the week Id rather get high on drugs and dance the night away than drink 15 vodkas and be lashed
but society says its ok to smoke tobacco and drink alcohol but not take drugs - i feel sorry for mutu. Its not performance enhancing.
caffine is the biggest drug - ask wrighty ;D
