Mine isn't all that high, had a £5 e/w on a 25-1 shot at Wolves once that romped home . Raise the question because a mate at work is on a bit of a hot streak at the mo, and had a nice little winner today. Picked out a hoss at Towcester by the name of Andy Gin and as that is his name (not the Gin bit ), he thought he would give it a shot. He normally picks a couple of horses a day and puts a £10 on each. No odds were quoted in the paper so was expecting 25-1 or so, went to bookies to find out and they told him it was 100-1 - he thought sod it, and went £10 e/w to which the girl at the bookies laughed, asked if he was mad but took his bet. Horse came in 3rd = £250 profit Went back to bookies this afternoon and same girl handed over the winnings with a smile referring to him as a lucky git (which he is). I'm sure such intrepid gamblers as Mr Ghost and Grinfish must have had a few longshots come in down the years ??

I don't gamble much but when i was 13 I went to watch salop play away at Notts County. They used to have a Ladbrookes in the away end and I asked mymum to put a £1 bet on a double - Throb to score first and Salop to win 2-1 with odds of 66-1
Needless to say the bet came in and I felt that i was an incredibly rich, well, £66 is a lot to a teenager!

I got a ten game accumulator correct once. I think it was around 55/1 but I only had £2 on it!

I don't go for big-odds singles, so have no memorable ones. The odd 5/1 5 match accumulator comes up, but nowt bigger.
Best odds recently were 1/2 on Chelsea last night ;D

Gotta be Party Politic in the National for me 12 years or so ago. Started backing him in the August at 100/1, and had a bit on him every month until the race the following April. Backet him at 100/1, 50/1, 40/1, 33/1,22/1,20/1 and 14/1 Race finished 4.05 - into the travel agents and booked a last minute deal for a week in majorca at 4.45 - a few beers followed by a 11pm flight

I'm not a gambler by nature and know next to nothing about horse racing. About 10 years ago ( about 1994) i went on a stag weekend which included a day at the Doncaster Races on the day of one of the classic races , the St Ledger. There were a few knowledgeable punters amongst us and a small gathering of numpty's (me, amongst them). When the St Ledger race time arrived the eight numpties decided to place a fiver each on the outsider, a horse called Moonax which was priced at 40-1 and sure enough he came storming home to win a very close race and present the numpties with £1600 . I don't remember the night out in Doncaster.

Think I am likely to win this one. Only ever do small bets and don't bet on the horses as a rule but office a worked in during the 80's always used to do small bets on the big races. I backed Nortons Coin in the Cheltenham Gold Cup at 100-1 and it came in first . Because I had this success everyone wanted to back a long priced horse in the Derby. Our couple of quid went on Termon(spelling?) at 500-1 e/w. Horse came in second ,thank you very much. It was the only bet the bookmaker we used had taken on the horse

16/1 on Luke Rodgers to score first on the day we won 7-1 at Rochdale Chris Freestone was 6/1 to score first that day... and I don't think he had even made the squad.

Fairey Fulmar and Old Father Thames, 28-1 and 100-7, shilling double, (my wages at the time £1.6.0 per week). The local bookie was a workmate of mine also kept a newsagents, he was not amused.

A decent day that could easily have been better (or worse) Ludlow races 1950 or 51, backed a horse in the first race which dead heated backed the winner of the second (Whitesox) and a horse which had been down the field in the previous years Derby (Multum in Parvo), first time over hurdles, backed it at 33-1, honest 10 bob,at the time was doing national service, at the off it was 2-1 favourite, another dead heat This was before photo finishes. About the same time at Hereford backed 8-1 outsider in 2 horse race, Doctor Tim and I think Ross Burn, both fell twice and were remounted both refused at least once before the outsider strolled home. Ross Burn won at Ludlow the following week at 100-6 in a 20+ field. Funny how these names stick with you after all these years yet I forgot to buy a loaf today.

considerable odds (30/1???) os salop to beat everton 2-1 would have been celebrating, however my mate knocked my phone out of my hand and it went flying along the riverside. Was chuffed tho' the next day when i went back into the bookies to claim my winnings

Can't remember the biggest but the best was :
TOWN TO BEAT EVERTON - £20 AT 16-1
Get in !
I'd be interested to know where you got 20/1 that day too as we were generally 8/1 that day!
