Got hold of a Southend United away shirt today. Long sleeve £38. Let's forget the brand for the moment - the materials and manufacturing quality are excellent. Round neck too - but not constricting around the throat.
Something to aspire to.

For longer term consideration, how does the club buy it's merchandise? Is it acting alone and trying to negotiate with the Nikes of this world?
If so and if other small clubs do the same, we could consider taking the initiative in starting a buying consortium. If all the clubs within, say a 60 mile radius pooled their requirements their spending power would be significant.

There's really nobody at the club who can get involved in that David. This is the problem, there isn't the money to pay people to do this work to generate the income to the pay the people to do this work.
The football shirt that we are now voting on will get produced almost entirely because of Sib's efforts as she juggles her responsibilites at the club with work etc etc.
The deadline to produce and deliver the shirt is less than half the time that would have been given if it was on sale from the open day.
The long term begins now.
The linking together isn't strictly necessary - is Southend a significantly large club next to ourselves? I don't think so.
