well done, good letters, i was appauled by Paul "not Gay" Lords letter. For a councillour what he wrote is diabolical, the bloke has no right to be a councillour writing letters like that! Who on earth in Belle Vue voted that idiot in! Its people like hime that will see Shrewsbuy fall and not just the football club the whole town in general.

That's three of us e-mailed Cllr Lord directly- and I didn't receive a reply, either, Ant. Did TBH get one, I wonder?

I like the second letter.
As a football fan you can be found guilty by association - now since these letters are written about / FAO an MP obviouslly we have to assume that he is a theiving, womenising bum showing theif - but i wouldn't want to jump to a conclusion! ;D

Paul Lord did not reply to my email either. If I see him in the Belle Vue Tavern again, I will be giving him a few choice words to chew over.

Actually, Glasgowshrew, TBH's letter was a reply to a different letter- it was a response to a "name and address supplied," cowardly letter. Mine was a reply to Councillor Lord's letter with its flawed logic. So there would be a slightly different slant. (TBH is brainier than I am. I have been known to seek his advice! I became a teacher in the days when you didn't need a University education. I went to a humble College of Education. I didn't go to Uni till I was 50- honestly!!!)

Maybe we need to get the Salop star onside.
We need to get them slating the council for passing on the wonderfull oportunity of having a riverside thearter and sporting facilities, and of also missing the chance to bring Shrewsbury into the 21st century, or even the late 20th century.
If we could get the paper actively onside it might make a difference as it certanly would put the council under pressure.

My letter got printed ;D in yesterdays shropshire star.
look on the sports page. (back) on the right hand side, towards the bottom, title is "benefits of new stadium to shrewsbury" or something like that.
I thought they'd just put in in their archive... nice surprise.
I think i said everything that needed to be said.

I work with Councillor Lord's brother so I have asked what his problem is. Apparently he owns a shop in the town centre (lingerie) & recently the Prince Rupert hotel had a fire. There were more than 20 police attending this incident, but, following the Hereford game he claims there was a scuffle outside his shop near this hotel which made him fear for his safety. He invited several elderly shoppers inside & then locked the door. He says that he called the police to report the trouble, only to be informed that they couldn't respond for at least 40 minutes. This obviously upset him, then when so many plods appeared at the hotel fire this annoyed him even more. The fact that the fire was at 7.00 AM on a Saturday morning seems to have no relevance as far as he is concerned. His brother tells me that he does not have feelings either way about the football club.

I e-mailed him as well stating that some stupid tw@t had written a load of complete pollocks in a letter published in The Star.............. I said what really annoyed me however was that this idiot had had the bare faced cheek and audacity to sign it in the name of Mr P Lord........... I sypathised that he,Mr Lord, must have been feeling deeply hurt by this imposters behaviour and I wished him the best of luck in finding the responsible as soon as possible....................... I aint had a reply to my e-mail either

I saw that incident about twenty hereford fans tried to get in the pub there, what is it, loggerheads? the people on the door said they couldn't go in, so there was a bit of pushing and shoving and general drunk big men watching football sort of stuff. Plenty of burberry caps etc, not many club shirts, I can sort of see his point, but it doesn't stop his letter being utterly ridiculous. No windows were broken, no-one was assaulted, no arrests were made, yet he compared it to a warzone
