To go and watch a film at Cineworld No wonder BlueSkies can afford to go skydiving so often. We took the cheaper option of the Pola in Welshpool instead, although they clearly had made savings by turning the central heating off. Anyhow, £3.50 for a 1970s style cinema experience, including witnessing a gang of gypsies fighting in the street afterwards was money well spent PS It was Phantom of the Opera I went to see and I bloody loved it.....

That's not so bad. The standard price is about 9 quid here in Japan The late shows here are cheaper, but still about 6 quid. And you have no qualms about paying 12-14 quid to watch 90 minutes of bad 4th division football How much is a new release video rental in Blockbuster nowadays?

What a rip off, only ever been to the one in Shrewsbury once and certainly won't be going back there again!
I have that Blockbuster £13.99 a month deal where they send DVDs through the post to you. I can get through 20+ DVDs a month so it works out at about 70p a film.

and still no marshmallows on the pick and mix ;D Is it sold by weight Pilch? If so, I think you can see the business reasons not to sell large, fluffy sweets, it's all about profit/sale+storage space ratio... If they sold the pic n mix by volume, they'd jump to it! p.s. get those lazy barstewards from Central Trains back to work willya? I hate having to travel via Wolves!!!

We all spend £12+ each Saturday to watch 90 mins of footy remember £6 isn't too bad imo, especially as the majority of the time you can read reviews as to whether the film is going to be any good or not.

I don't know if Cineworld is the same but at UCI Telford there are various cheap nights (Tuesday or Thursday I think) plus an 'Orange Wednesday', where if you text some number from an Orange mobile then show the text when buying a ticket, you get it cheap.
I don't think £5.90 is that excessive really, no more expensive than a game of football and cheaper than your average gig.
I think the cost of confectionary and drinks is abit excessive though to be fair...

Still think it is quite expensive for what is essentially tv...
Going to the cinema used to be something the whole family could do.
but for my mum and dad to take us to the cinema would cost £20 or so. ANd thats before popcorn etc...

It is expensive, but at the end of the day it's an option just like going to watch the football, joining a gym or even buying a tv licence.
If you don't want to pay the money, don't go

Cineworld is a nice experience. Me and the kids can get in there for less than we can get into the Gay Meadow and its less of a lottery in terms of the end product too.
I like the seats in the Cineworld. And unlike most cinemas it doesn't smell of sweat.
Next to that I like the Majestic in Bridgnorth.
The cinema and the Gay Meadow are where me and the kids have shared some of our greatest moments. The Rohan charge onto the Pelennor Fields and Jemmo's second goal against Everton just being the best two.
Ellie shaking her fist at the screen as the orcs were cut down - very funny.

and still no marshmallows on the pick and mix ;D There have been marshmallows for ages now, started ordering the first time you moaned And with regards to the ticket prices we make a maximum of 10% off that price the rest goes to the distributors to pay the actors etc, the Pola can charge less because they dont get the films for the opening weeks. We have various discounts its cheaper before 5pm in the week and we do have cheap tuesdays and orange wednesday (241) and watch this space for annual unlimited tickets for less than £10 per month

The Orange Wednesady thing is pants too. I turned up at my local cinema (who were on Orange's) list) only to be told that they dont participate. Rushing then down to Taunton (after ringing to confirm) I was told that Orange Wednesday tickets wouldn't be honoured as the cinema was "too busy". Im not blaming Orange. Im blaming the cinema's, but Orange should be aware of whats going on. So I wrote to them. All I got as a reply was a text, asking me why I never took advantage of the Orange Wednesday offer

Me and a group of mates usually go to the cinema every sunday night. Two sundays ago we went to UCI in Telford, only to find the film we wanted to watch (House Of The Flying Daggers) was not shown again until 9:30. So we took the decision to go to Cineworld in Shrewsbury. I'd never been there before, but it's just not got a nice feel to it as UCI Telford has. And it's more expensive, and it doesn't seem to have as many showings.

Rushing then down to Taunton (after ringing to confirm) I was told that Orange Wednesday tickets wouldn't be honoured as the cinema was "too busy". That seriously shouldnt be happening the boxes do add an extra 30secs-1 min to every transaction by validating the codes (and customers who dont know how to retrieve the texts ) but with adequate staffing and planning that shouldnt mean that they dont comply with the deal. I would complain to the head office of the cinema chain at the very least they should provide you with some kind of compensation Got a feeling the text Orange sent may just have been because the code they sent you wasn't claimed
