4 clean sheets in 5 games No one ever gets relegated with a defence that good, even if it isn't always entertaining But for a quite brilliant save by Howie at the death we weren't in too much trouble today Rushden didn't do a lot either Darlo and Bristol Rovers had their chances but generally we did ok All in all, if you do not concede then you pick up points and if at some stage by some miracle we start scoring goals again then we're onto something special Can the real Luke Rodgers please stand up, please stand up.....

Very impressive. And to be honest, bar the Rushden game, we've been entertaining to watch too.

Excellent display, and begining to look really solid. Thought whitehead and tinson in the whole looked excellent centrally

With JQ in charge we had 3 clean sheets.(This Season) Already with GP FIVE As he said in the after-match interview thats stage One. Stage Two, Come on Down Luke Rodgers How many games have we seen Town have all the best chances only to let a sloppy late winner/equaliser in?

Even a Tinson sceptic like myself was impressed with our back line yesterday. Very solid, took the strain when we needed to, and generally looked like a unit that knew what it was trying to do. Fair play. I can handle us giving them one chance, that will always happen, but at no time did I get the eebeejeebies on account of unecessary defensive wobbles ...

Results are everything at the end of the day and you cant argue with 4 out of 5 clean sheets. But I still expect Walton to have a big part to play if and when he gets fit

True, most of our good defensive work has happened without Walton, so there is room to improve
I think Ashton is a decent little player, he doesn;t bottle challenges and really does cover some ground
I was sceptical when he played left midfield but at left back he really is hitting the mark
I think Sedgemore is providing pretty decent protection for the back four as well

I expect Tinson/Whitehead will form our central defence for the majority of the remainder of the season. Hopefully Walton is on a one year contract so we can get a fitter younger replacement next season.

Whitehead had a couple of blinding games at right back and now seems back in form

Hopefully Walton is on a one year contract so we can get a fitter younger replacement next season. Walton is signed on a 2 year contract whereas Tinsons contract is up at the end of the season plus he is several years older than Walton. If any of the 2 leave it will be Tinson.

In that case we're lumbered, if Tinson leaves we'll need 2 centre backs - 1 to replace him and one to cover for Waltons frequent unavailability. Tinson may be a veteran, but he is rarely injured or carded, so is usually available for selection.
