Hi all,is any one going to the v festival this year?ive just looked at getting a ticket and there around 140 pounds and we dont know what bands are even playing yet,it better be a good collection of bands to justify that price tag as its only a 2 day festival at a cost of glastonbury, for that price i hope they come to the car park and carry all your camping gear to the camp site and set it up for you hee hee any thoughts on this are welcome? cheers

One of the many good things about V is its on our doorstep. if it p!sses down then you go home, have a nice shower, kip in your own bed and go back the next morning.
Beer is a rip-off though - best off taking your own and smuggling it in.

I'll be going Rob lad, tho I'm abit lucky as my mate gets a spare free ticket due to living within the sound disturbance radius (a farm in Tong) so I mooch off him every year ;D I'm also hoping to do Glasto again as I did last year (and I believe you have done in the past too)
Thoughts on V....certainly the most commercial festival, if you don't have Virgin mobile then you struggle badly for a decent signal, they only sell Virgin Cola for the most part...you get the idea. Massive advertising campaigns on the big screens on the main stage too. It is much cleaner than Glasto or Reading or whatever, well maintained toilets etc. Decent range of food stalls, but some at very large prices (in the interval between Kasabian and Chikinki last year I ended up paying about £2.50 for a hot dog!). Not as much of a drug problem as the other festivals either, though magic mushrooms seemed very much the flavour last year!
Another thing is that unlike Glasto, I get the impression that V is the sort of festival you simply couldn't go to without a band of mates. At Glasto there is just so much to do and see etc, but at V, apart from a very expensive fairground, there is really very little else apart from the music (usually a film shown one night in the Dance Tent or whatever).
As for bands...tickets always seem to go on sale before bands are announced, but it always seems to be a decent line up in the end (especially last year with the introduction of the 'new bands tent' alongside the exsisting Main Stage, NME Stage and Dance Tent).
I know nothing for definate but rumours about headliners I have heard so far include:- Stereophonics, Travis, Coldplay (almost certainly doing Glasto), The Cure (God I hope so), Radiohead (again hope so, but in reality, no chance), Manic Street Preachers and The Streets.
Other bands apparently due to appear- Feeder, Jet (make up for pulling out last year), The Coral, The Zutons, Scissor Sisters, Delays, The Bees, The Open, Doves, Ash, The Thrills, Keane, Snow Patrol, Embrace, Thirteen Senses, Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight, The Killers, The Music, The Ordinary Boys, The Hives, Mooney Suzuki, Dead 60's, Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party...
But like I say all of these are just rumours from various sources, nothing confirmed yet but since this is the 10th anniversary of V, I'm expecting something special...

I'm defo hoping to go, preying the ticketing fiasco of last year can be ammended, plus the fact that I'm pretty sure Emily Eavis said that Glasto was having a year off in 2006 in an NME interview last year Don't think I could wait until 2007 to experience it again

Hi all,is any one going to the v festival this year?ive just looked at getting a ticket and there around 140 pounds and we dont know what bands are even playing yet Dont actually think the tickets are on sale yet, i know you could purchase them at last years price (£85 without camping) from various outlets i.e. Ticketmaster until a certain date, but i'm pretty sure the tickets at this year's price aren't on sale yet. But londonticketshop or someone like that are selling them for inflated value at about £140 As soon as headline lineup is announced i'd guess the tickets would go on re sale.

According to my mate who is organising it this year (and organised it last year) tickets were on sale for V2005 at last years price for a short period but increase to around £150 this year, he believed they were on sale now om the official website. The reason for such a drastic price hike is this year is the 10th anniversary of the V festival and as a result they are expected to have some major bands to celebrate this. The same mate has mentioned the likes of Manics, Coldplay, Radiohead & U2 but my reaction to the last two was Was also told that it could be the last year at Weston Park because they are outgrowing the site Disclaimer - all of the above was told by friends so may not be true

I shall be going to V for the first time this year, about 15 or 20 of us going, should be good ;D
I've heard somewhere they want U2 for V, but they'll only play one venue, not both.
