This could be very interesting . Our new Manager appears on Undr the Cosh . I haven’t watched it yet on YouTube but will do later on this evening. I have read a few comments , very complementary, he appears to be universally loved 😂apart , of course from that one incident when Town were outright robbed at home v Wycombe . I remember it only too well. Anyway, it looks a very good episode , thought I’d flag it up so others can have a look if so desirous👍

Shush - dont mention that 'goal'. He owes us one. Maybe he can get something out of the referees who have been pretty hard on us for a while?

I listened today
clearly recorded before he was in for the town job but one thing that struck me, I claimed early last week that he was a very slow starter and he dropped in the following lines that as good as confirm it
im not the kind of manager if you want someone to turn up break a few tea cups and get wins, im a builder, I'll build a team slowly
he also hinted hes a long ball man, good news for marquis I guess , wait until he finds out how high 6 foot 7 tom can jump, ( almost as high as Tom Thumb )

I listened to part of it last night , finished this afternoon. Very interesting , must remember not to call him Gary . He was known as a very good crosser of the ball and I think one Manager referred to him playing out wide and not being averse to tackling full backs! Pleasing to hear as you say , that he sees himself as a builder of teams .Sounds good to me . If we do go down and I pray people don’t start blaming Ainsworth or RW but I bloody know they will, I think he is definitely one to bring us back up . He said some interesting things about the culture of a club , not just about the players but how the club fits into the community if you like and how the fan base sees itself , as an entity , in the great scheme of things . My interpretation though , but I don’t think I’m far off . Yep, good feeling about this appointment , just hope he is given time and support .

MT's pathetic attempt to play long ball still traumatises me to this day.

Agree with that Pughy - the long pass can pose a real problem for a defence if done properly and you have the right players to get on the end of them. It also bypasses the midfield if you are getting outplayed there. Generally the long pass needs to be made by a defender or deep-lying midfielder and the last defender I remember who could do that consistently well for us was Goldson. Perhaps of the current squad Winchester is the player who can best pick out a forward from just in front of the back line.

The long ball is good providing it is accurate, it picks out a player, the player up front holds the ball and he has the back up to lay it off.

Trouble is marquis isn't strong enough to to hold the ball up, I've seen castledine win more headers than him too....that's why I want kayode to come back asap.... here's hoping😀

Few times I've been impressed with the quality of the pass. I really don't think we have the attacking players to make it work though. Bloxham can't head a ball, Lloyd jumps about but can rarely control a header, Marquis can win a ball but lacks the pace to run in behind. Then we need to find a way of getting our midfield high enough to join the attack. We might just have to limp through to January and hope for the best.

DM me if you’ll pay up. Then I’ll get in touch with his people to check he’s kosher with it.
